MALIN KUNDANG Prolog 1 This story about Malin Kundang. He was a boy from a very poor family who live with his mom. His father was a sailor, but he already died. Malin was a smart boy but a bit naughty, so the wound left a scar on his hand. Oneday, Malin grew up, he decided to go to city. He would become rich by the time he went back to the village. Malin

: Mom, I want to go to city.

Mother

: for what?

Malin

: I want to look for a better job. I want to become rich man someday.

Mother

: don’t let me alone Malin. You are the only one in my life.

Malin

: but it is my choice to have a brilliant future. It is not only for me, but also for us. Please, blessing me Mom.

Prolog 2 His mother had no other choice to let her only child go. Mother

: (sad)… well, I will permit you to go. Please remember my advice. If you have succeeded and become a rich man, don’t forget to your mother and your hometown.

Prolog 3 Malin was travelling by the sea, he come along with one rich merchant. He was hoping to become one of his crew and learn from that merchant. Malin

: Sir, would you like to let me become one of your crew?

Merchant

: what competence do you have to make me the richest man in the world?

Malin

: please trust me, I’ m a hard worker. I can make your dreams come true.

Prolog 4 The merchant accepts Malin as his crew. Then, Malin went to anyplace wherever the winds took him. Soon he will become a great successful man. Many years has passed since then. Malin has become a rich merchant because of his hard work and marry the most beautiful girl in the world and he had forgotten his mother as well as the village. Merchant

: Malin, I feel you have the qualifications that I search to become my lovely daughter’s husband. Would you mind marrying her?

Prolog 5 Malin was so happy to hear that, then the wedding has happened. They live happily. On the other hand, Malin’s mother was getting older. She missed her child so much. She had always waited for Malin’s return at the harbor every day. Mother

: Malin…. Where are you? I miss you so much. (sad)

Prolog 6 One day, there was a merchant who stopped by the village. She knew it was Malin the moment she saw him. Mother

: Malin, finally you get back home. I miss you so much my son.

Malin

: hey, don’t touch me, who are you?

Mother

: I’m your mother. I always pray every time to be able to see you.

Wife

: my husband, she is your mother, isn’t she?

Mother

: is she your wife Malin? How beautiful you are!

Malin

: no, I don’t have mother like her. It is impossible I have poor mother like you. I’m a rich man.

Mother

: I’m sure you are my son because you have the scar on your hand. I can prove it. Look this. It was happened when you chased a chicken and hit it with a broom. You slip off and hurt yourself.

Wife

: hey, I don’t believe what you said. My husband is handsome and rich, while you are poor and ugly.

Mother

: no, you are wrong. He is really my son, my lovely son.

Malin

: don’t believe her, my wife. She is a beggar who pretends my mother to get our wealth.

Mother

: oh God, if you are really my son, I curse you to become a stone.

Prolog 7 Malin leaves his mother and on his journey, Malin’s ship begins to shake and soon it turned into a stone……until now. Ladies and gentleman, the moral message of this story is: As the children, don’t forget to all the love that has been given from the parents, especially our mothers. A mother has been pregnant for 9 months and she has grown up the children. The sinful to the parents is one of the big sins that will hurt yourself.
