Corrine Van Note, who nominated her, highlighted only a few of her qualities that won her this deserved honor. One of these was her ability to “cross the line” where her responsibilities end and someone else’s picks up. We might call that “cross training”….she calls it “doing her best!” It is these traits that are needed for our future leaders and mentors.

EDITORIAl:

THANK YOU!

The New York Association for Central Service Professionals (NYSACSP) held their first Seminar and Vendor Exhibits in Niagara Falls in June. Besides the educational virtues of the seminar, there were other notable achievements that blossomed from the event:

I would like to thank all of you in the Long Island/New York City area for your support in my election as IAHCSMM President Elect. I am especially proud to be elected. But more so, I am especially proud of you who are such an important component of our profession of Central Service. We are the unsung heroes in the hospitals. As Hemingway once said, “The world is a fine place and worth fighting for.” I think we need to continue to sacrifice a little of ourselves for what we believe in. You are providing vital healthcare for our patients in our hospitals. I will look forward to your continued support in the future in achieving our professional goals.

Chapters from the two National Associations worked together for a common goal – education and mandatory state certification. The Presidents from both National Associations met together to pledge to unite the profession with a Joint Seminar in the future. The State Association met with two leaders from State Departments of Health (New Jersey and New York) and received direction toward achieving their goals. Monies were raised to formulate regional educational programs throughout Don Gordon President Elect the state. IAHCSMM These were significant accomplishments that will have long-range effects in “Raising the Bar” in Central Service. Don Gordon, CRCST, FEL Editor
