Arrest of Armed Robbery Suspect On December 05, 2009 the Lake Wales Police Department with the assistance of the Polk County Sheriff's Office, arrested Christopher Barnett in the armed robbery of a Wing Street delivery driver. Barnett and another juvenile accomplice held up the delivery driver as he was delivering an order to the Orangemont Apartments. Barnett pointed a small caliber handgun toward the victim then demanded money and the food items. The victim complied, then turned and ran toward his vehicle, at which time Barnett fired one round in the air. During the investigation detectives learned Barnett had called in the order to Wing Street and asked to have it delivered to an unoccupied apartment. Utilizing information collected through cellular phone towers, detectives were to locate the owner of the cell phone and ascertain who made the call to Wing Street. The firearm and other evidence was recovered during this investigation. Christopher Barnett was also located and arrested. An investigation is still being conducted to determine other suspects related to this case. Further arrests are expected.
