Noted Balinese Economist Lays Out Why He is Joining the Chorus of Those Opposed to Increasing Building Height Restrictions to 33 Meters The following interview with noted Balinese economist, Professor Dr. W. Ramantha, appeared in the May 20, 2009, edition of Bali Post. Dr. Ramanatha, who also serves as a Commissioner for the Bali Tourism Development Corporation, is the Dean of the Economic Faculty at Bali's Udayana University. What follows is a free translation of that interview. Bali Post: What is the economic impact of the suggestion to allow buildings of up to 33 meters in height in Bali? Professor Ramantha: What must be first understood is that the economy of Bali is very dependent on tourism, while the capital of tourism is culture. Thus, the suggestion to increase the building height requirement to 33 meters is an idea that that will hurt the "working capital" of tourism (i.e. culture), making the proposal economically unsupportable as it will negatively impact Bali's economy. Bali Post: What must be done to

Bali Shangrila Beach Club

profit Bali? Professor Ramantha: Preserve the provincial rules on building height in place since the time of Professor Mantra's period of service as Bali's governor. By keeping the rule that does not allow buildings higher than a coconut palm (15 meters), Bali will preserve its branding, creating an added value to the island's economy. Bali Post : How much does this matter in terms of a fair distribution of economic benefits? Professor Ramantha: It's very significant. By holding to the existing rules, tourism investment, especially in the accommodation sector, will not be only focused on Bali's southern regions. New investments will spread to other regencies, each with their own potential and unique attractions. Bali Post: What's the impact on investment in Bali? Professor Ramantha : It is precisely by safeguarding the unique characteristics embodied in our building codes that the accommodation sector will profit. Our unique buildings cause tourists to pay more to stay in our hotels and this increase the income of hotels in Bali. Www.balidiscovery.com

Woman's claim: 'I've had sex with 200 AFL players’ SPECIAL REPORT: A MELBOURNE woman has revealed she has had sex with up to 200 AFL players in the past 12 years. But she doesn't care what people might call her, much less think about her -- she has no regrets and is far from ashamed by what many would consider degrading behaviour. Late-night phone calls from AFL players asking for sex, drunken group sex with up to 12 players at a time and a notorious reputation are all part of the life of a footy groupie. The woman is in her 30s and asked to be identified publicly as ``Amy''. In two lengthy face-to-face interviews with Melbourne's Sunday Herald-Sun, she spoke widely of her encounters with AFL players and the group-sex culture within footy. She also strongly defended the players she has been involved with. Her identity is known to many in AFL circles and she said she still received regular text messages from players asking for sex. It has been confirmed a number of AFL club presidents were aware of her sexual involvement with footballers. Outraged at the treatment of former NRL star and TV personality Matthew Johns, Amy said judgmental attitudes about sex had to end and what happened in people's private lives was their own business. But a leading academic questioned the culture of group sex among AFL players. University of Melbourne gender expert Lauren Rose-warne said it was difficult for a woman to provide consent in group-sex situations. She also said a group of men having sex with the one woman was ``homo-erotic''. ``There's 12 men in the room and none of them has asked themselves, `Is this the right thing to do?','' Dr Rosewarne said. Amy criticised a New Zealand woman who spoke to the ABC's Four Corners program this month about a group-sex incident with Johns and Cronulla Sharks players seven years ago. ``I want to come out and defend the guys. I find it appalling this

woman would speak out and exploit other people,'' said Amy, who provided a statutory declaration, witnessed by a policeman, to support her story. Amy said she enjoyed group sex because she liked being the centre of attention and knew there were no strings attached. She had never felt degraded by being the plaything of a room full of men. Instead, she said, it had made her feel ``powerful''. ``(Group sex) is not just an NRL thing, it's not just an AFL thing, it's a male culture,'' she said. Amy is aware of the consequences of being outed as a woman involved in group sex. She has worked for a number of AFL clubs in administration and office roles, and said she had been sacked from more than one club for having casual relationships with players. She said she would not publicly name the players she had slept with. ``No one has a right to ruin people's families,'' she said. But she did not regret sleeping with married players and argued it was a private matter between them and their wives if the men were cheating on them. ``I was single, I never cheated on anybody,'' she said. Amy revealed a culture of group sex in the AFL, claiming she'd had sex with up to 12 players from the same club at one time. She'd had group encounters with players from many AFL clubs, which she identified to the Sunday Herald-Sun. She used to meet groups of players in hotel rooms, at players' homes and sometimes at her sharehouses. ``But it was always consensual and they always treated me with respect,'' she said. Amy had enjoyed group sex with footballers because she wanted to be wanted by such fit, powerful men. Group sex was attractive because she knew it was purely a physical act. The group-sex sessions had not involved alcohol about 60 per cent of time. Often it was midweek, after the players' training session.

She said having group sex meant it was clear there was no chance of an ongoing relationship, which meant players could not ``break her heart''. ``It was a little bit of fun. I liked being the centre of attention,'' she said. ``The next day I would wake up and get on with my life and have something to talk about with the girls over coffee.'' Amy said she had no regrets about her encounters. ``I'm not embarrassed that it happened to me,'' she said. ``I didn't get emotionally attached. They were great people to hang out with, but I knew nothing would ever eventuate from it. But I wasn't looking for a footballer as a boyfriend, anyway.'' Boyfriends who did break her heart -- those she regretted being involved with -- had not been AFL players. Amy started meeting AFL footballers in 1997. ``(I have slept with) about 150 to 200. I used to keep a diary, but I lost that. I didn't put what the list was about, it just had names in it. ``I stopped counting about five years ago.'' She said she had ongoing relationships with several players; others she labelled as ``one-offs''. Amy said group sex was common with AFL players, but also happened in other sectors of Victorian industry. During group sessions, Amy would meet players in a room and they would take turns. Though she said her encounters were safe, she was often drunk and was unsure how long the encounters had lasted. She admitted using drugs at times during some encounters. She was never paid for sex, nor was she was offered any money. Amy is a former school captain and dux of several subjects in her final year. TO BE CONTINUE TO PAGE 7

Indonesian Clove Cigarette Producers Suggest More than Just the Air is Being Fouled by U.S. Government Moves to Ban Popular Scented Indonesian Cigarettes. The U.S. government is moving to ban the use of cigarette flavorings as a step to discourage teenagers from taking up smoking. Cherry, chocolate and clove additives will be banned if legislation being considered by the U.S. Senate is passed. Specifically exempted from the proposed ban, after intense lobbying by the U.S. tobacco industry, is the used of mint-flavored menthol cigarettes such as Marlboro Smooth. As anyone who has ever visited Indonesia can confirm, the distinctive pervasive smell of burning cloves mixedd with Indonesian tobacco greets the nose wherever Indonesian's gather to 'light up' their overwhelmingly preferred tobacco product. So large, in fact, is the Indonesian clove cigarette industry that Indonesia holds the distinction of being both the largest producer as well as the largest importer of cloves in the world; all needed to feed the almost insatiable demand for clove-laced smokes. The Indonesian Ambassador to the U.S.A., Sudjadnan Parnohadiningrat, has gone on record condemning the proposed legislation as 'blatantly favoring a domestically produced product over an imported one' if the legislation allows menthol flavoring to the exclusion of other flavorings, such as cloves. The potential for the matter to become increasingly incendiary in the months ahead is the threat from the Indonesian government to bring the matter to the World Trade Organization which could jeopardize the $22 billion-a-year trade relationship with Indonesia. Indonesia exports an estimated US$500 million in clove or Kretek cigarettes every year, with approximately 20% of that total destined for U.S. markets. www.balidiscovery.com

Top Athletes to Join MRA Bali International Triathlon. For Spectators and Athletes Alike, a Memorable Day Promised on June 28th at MRA Bali International Triathlon. With just 5 weeks left until the 3rd MRA Bali International Triathlon on Sunday, June 28, 2009, organizers report that athletes registering for the individual and group events are slightly ahead of last year, when compared on a year-on-year basis. Now a permanent fixture on Bali's sport's calendar, the MRA Bali International Triathlon is comprised of a 1.5 km swim in Jimbaran Bay, a 40 km bike race down Bali's southernmost peninsula and finishing with a 10 km road race through the village of Jimbaran. Held simultaneously with the triathlon is a 5 km fun run. Reflecting the growing interest in triathlon in Asia and Indonesia, there is a marked increase in regional and domestic registrations this year. Indonesian swimming icon Richard Sambera will return to Bali this June, competing as an individual triathlete. Sambera, editor of Men's Fitness (Indonesia) and FHM (Indonesia), will use the race to bring to a close a series of articles on training and preparing for a triathlon featured in Men's Fitness' recent issues.

Following Sambera to Bali will be a number of Indonesian national athletes competing as corporate team relay members. 2007 Southeast Asia Game Silver Medalist Andy Wibowo and national swimming star Ira Kurniawan will travel to Bali together with champion cyclist Nurhayati and marathon runner Maria Lawalata. The Bali race is also promises to lure back a number of the athletes who participated in the 2008 Asian Beach games. Last year's overall winner, Luke McKenzie, and his partner-fellow triathlete Amanda Balding will fly in to Bali from sporting engagements in Tokyo to join the 2009 Bali race. McKenzie's and Balding's appearance in Bali is made possible through the generous support of Garuda Indonesia. A special festival will be held at Race Central on yhe morning of June 28th at Coconut Grove Beach, opposite the Four Seasons Resort in Jimbaran. The Four Seasons in cooperation with the Intercontinental Bali Resort are the main hotel sponsors for this year's event. The festival, running throughout the morning of the race, will include live music, games, food and beverage

outlets, commercial stands and free massages from Jari Menari Registered race participants will receive high quality race t-shirts, competitor swim caps, a pre-race highcarbohydrate dinner at the Four Seasons Resort at Jimbaran Bay, invitations to a post race lunch and party, discounted tours and water sports activities during their stay in Bali, and special rates at Bali hotels. Prizes from Bali hotels and other businesses will be presented with a custom-made trophy for each age and gender category donated by Jenggala Ceramics. Also joining as a major sponsor this year is Counterpain - the popular analgesic ointment produced by BristoilMeyers. And, as in years past, BIMC Hospital will be providing field hospital services for the race. www.balidiscovery.com

Visa's golden travel tip: Payment cards reduce personal risk whilst travelling If you ask any well-travelled individual they will tell you that carrying a wallet stuffed with large bundles of cash whilst travelling isn't the brightest idea. It's not exactly rocket science… it's just common sense. 42 percent of respondents interviewed as part of Visa's Travel Smart Survey agreed, saying that carrying less cash means less risk whilst on holiday. Forty five percent of respondents said they relied primarily on payment cards. Interestingly, of the 55 percent who said they relied on cash as their primary method of payment while abroad, only four percent actually thought cash was a safe option. Mr. Stuart Tomlinson,

country manager, Malaysia, Visa said: “When people are planning their holidays be it a weekend away or a longer overseas holiday one thing they consider is the best way to carry money. “Payment cards are certainly a safer option in many seasoned travelers' minds as they are not carrying thick wads of notes in their wallet or purse.” Findings from the survey revealed that leisure travelers could take a leaf out of business travelers who travel smart who prefer to use a credit, debit or pre-paid card instead of cash. 59 percent of business travelers are more likely to use payment cards over cash (41 percent) as their primary payment

method while overseas, while 58 percent of leisure travelers are more inclined to use cash than cards (41 percent). Correspondingly, business travelers carry less than US$300 in cash (30 percent carry under US$300) compared to leisure travelers (21 percent carry under US$300).

Kuta Punk Rock Band Poised to Shake Up the American Music Scene During 35 Day Concert Tour. Bali's punk rock pioneers Superman is Dead (SID) are about to embark on a major U.S.A. tour, spreading their unique style of Kuta Rock on tour dates between June 2 July 9, 2009. During those 35 days SID will perform some 18 concert gigs in 17 cities, including a multi-city segment with the legendary Vans Warped Tour, only the second Asian band to be invited to do so. Playing together in one form or another since 1995, Bobby Kool (lead vocals and guitar), Eka Rock (bass player and backing vocalist) and Jerink (drummer) - the three men who comprise Superman is Dead have more than paid their dues with minor indie labels and gigs at less than salubrious dives before finally singing a record deal with Sony-BMG in 2003. That hard fought negotiation with Sony-BMG included the understanding that the band would be allowed to record most of their numbers in English and also have complete control over their own image. All this from a band who narrowly escaped the Bali bombing of 2002 that took place only 75 meters from their Kuta base. The U.S.A. tour will allow audiences there to see first hand the musicians who pack Bali's music venues whenever they play and understand why the band has won numerous music awards. When asked to self-describe their musical style, the band says they are Punk-Rock-a-Bali a mixture of sounds inspired by U.S.A. punk legends NOFX (pronounced No Ef-Ex) and Social

Distortion, supersonically fueled with beer-soaked Balinese Rockabilly attitude. Got it? That

She started meeting AFL players when she moved from country Victoria to Melbourne 12 years ago. She loved football and had always wanted to be involved with the industry. She said women should take a more liberal attitude to sex. ``I'm all for equality; guys can get a notch on their belts, why can't I?'' she said. ``There is still a double standard in football.'' Amy said no AFL player had ever been disrespectful or forced her into any sexual act. She practised safe sex. But she was upset that some players had passed her mobile number on to friends. She said she would often receive ``booty calls'' from people she did not know, asking for sex. ``I never rang anyone, they always rang me. I don't do the whole booty call thing,'' she said. But Amy said there were some predatory women in football circles. Women would ``stalk'' players on social-networking site Facebook, she said. They would find out where players drank and turn up at the pubs looking for attention.

But Amy questioned the motives of some of her fellow groupies. ``They are only doing it for money, they want their profiles enhanced,'' she said. ``I have seen girls lined up to jump into their beds.'' As part of this interview, Amy agreed to be photographed and provided her resume, with included prominent AFL identities and former players as referees. Referees contacted by The Sunday Times confirmed they knew Amy and her employment record. Amy said she had declined offers of money from TV stations and magazines to talk about her lifestyle. Details of her encounters emerged after an AFL player passed on her number to an FM radio station about a month ago. During an off-air interview, she named players she had slept with. But she said after the interview, she had second thoughts and asked the station to remove names from the interview if it was to run. The radio station decided not to run the interview. Station management this week confirmed the contents of the interview, saying the woman discussed many sexual

encounters with AFL players. When approached by The Sunday Times, Amy was happy to speak. She was not paid for the interview. Recently unemployed, Amy said she still wanted to work in the football industry, but her reputation saw her applications knocked back. Amy said her days of serial sex with AFL players were over; her last group sex session was three years ago. Now she wanted to settle down and have a family. She has only had two serious boyfriends, with the longest relationship lasting six months. But she hoped her past would not be a barrier to becoming a wife and a mother. ``It's only been in the past five years that I have been thinking that, because I absolutely adore and love kids,'' she said. ``As you get older, your priorities change, your focuses in life change.''

Indonesia hopes EU flight ban will be lifted Indonesia is confident that the flight ban imposed by the European Union will be lifted in June this year as it gears up to present improvements in its flight safety systems. The country will present its improvements to a European Commission Conference in Brussels, Belgium in late June. If successful, the lifting of the flight ban will allow Indonesia's national carriers to enter European airspace again, the last time being in 2007. Harry Bhakti, the ministry`s directorate general, told Antara News that he had received a letter earlier last week from the European Commission

30

which gave positive signs in regards to the lifting of the flight ban. Bhakti said the ministry had fulfilled six of the remaining requirements set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). However, ICAO still needed to examine three of the six points which included the carrier`s operation and supervision, and the installation of flight safety equipment. He said the inspection would be carried out in Jakarta on June 15. The European Commission banned all Indonesian airlines from flying to European air space in 2007 due to

Indonesia's hefty record of air accidents. Jarkarta Globe reported that in April, 24 people were killed in a Fokker aircraft which crashed into an airport hangar in Bandung, West Java. In May, a Hercules C-130 lost its rear landing gear on a Papua airstrip and only last Wednesday, another Hercules C-130 crashed into a village in East Java and burst into flames. It killed 101 people on board and some local residents.

LOCAL broadband prices could be halved thanks to a massive internet cable linking Australia's eastern seaboard to the rest of the world. Pipe Networks' first international broadband cable, dubbed PPC-1, landed in Sydney last week. The $200 million cable, stretching 4787km, runs from Collaroy on Sydney's north shore to Guam and then branches off into other major countries. The PPC-1 is the first international internet cable to be owned independently of the country's big telcos. Once completed, the pipe is set to increase the size of Australia's international link by almost 50 per cent, and send internet prices tumbling. Grahame Lynch, publisher of industry news site CommsDay, said broadband prices could be slashed in half, while download quotas went up. "Prices will drop dramatically," he said. "It's going to have a tremendous impact on what users will be able to enjoy in terms of quotas." Pipe Networks chief Bevan Slattery said the cable had started to have an effect on prices even before it was switched on. "Once the cable was pretty much a

Threatening phone call Mr Slattery said he was threatened by one of Australia's big four carriers over plans to build the cable. "I think in about July or August of last year I received a disturbing phone call," he said at the cable landing in Collaroy last week. "I think I was personally threatened by a tier one, which was quite a remarkable stance." Current Australian tier one carriers include Telstra, Optus, AAPT and Verizon Business. Www.news.com.au

certainly, some of the existing cable operators started reducing their costs, and quite significantly," Mr Slattery said. "This cable (is) actually about creating competition, reducing the cost of bandwidth to consumers and reinvigorating the Australian marketplace." John Lindsey, of internet provider Internode, backed up Mr Slattery's claims. "The key thing is that cheap international connectivity, one way or another, will mean cheaper broadband," he said Internode is one of two providers that have signed up to use the Pipe Networks cable, but has not yet restructured its pricing plans. iiNet will also use the cable. iiNet managing director Michael Malone this week told The Australian the company would look to increase its download quotas by 15 per cent, however Mr Lynch said that figure was most likely an understatement. "I think he's deliberately being conservative," he said. "I think there will be a capacity there for a much greater increase in quotas."

A 14-YEAR-OLD boy says he used his mobile phone to secretly record a police officer's threat to assault him with a baton. The boy said he was intimidated by Leading Senior Constable Matthew Lake, who he said threatened to shove a baton up his backside. The officer has been put on alternative duties while the Ethical Standards Department investigates. The 20-minute one-on-one interview - over an accusation the boy pushed a younger child off his bike and punched him repeatedly - was at Narre Warren station last Thursday. According to a tape heard by the Herald Sun, Sen-Constable Lake warned

he'd circulate the boy's photo to other police so they could harass him. The boy said the officer also waved a baton at him during repeated threats. He said that when SenConstable Lake left the interview room at one point, he turned on his mobile phone recorder. On his return, Sen-Constable Lake advised the boy anything he said could be used as evidence in court. He then asked if the boy wanted the matter to end in court. Recorded was this comment: "If I hear one more complaint . . . about your behaviour, I'll shove this thing so far up your a***. . . you won't know what day it is." The boy was eventually given a warning; on leaving, he told his mother he had been threatened. She phoned Sen-Constable Lake, told him the interview had been recorded, then taped several heated conversations with the officer. The registered nurse said he tried to calm her, apologising and explaining he was trying to teach her

son a lesson and handled it the "wrong way". She said she was not permitted to sit with her son during the interview, which is against police regulations when dealing with a child. "The more I listen to it, the more angry I get. I feel terrible I didn't go into that room," she said. "I said 'Don't be rough with him'. When my son got out of there he was pale. He couldn't breathe." She said her son suffered an asthma attack soon afterward and had to be put on a ventilator pump. The next day he was prescribed sedatives because he could not sleep. She said she would seek legal advice over the unprofessional and damaging conduct. "I feel abused," the boy said. "He's a big guy. He stood over me . . . he had a baton and I thought he was going to hit me. He was waving it in my face." But he said he did not want the officer to lose his job. Www.news.com.au

Bali Sani Paadma and Bali Sani Suites to be Sold at Auction. Denpasar Court Ruling Paves the Way for Sale of Two Hotels Embroiled in Conflict Betweeb its Owners Since 2001. Radar Bali reports that the Denpasar District Court has approved the petition of a part owner of the Bali Sani Hotel to be allowed to sell the hotel at public auction. Ruling on May 14, 2009, judge Istining Kadariswati, affirmed the right of Lie Thien Ping to auction the hotel and also ruled that the defendant, Soeharjo Gondo, had violated the law by attempting to run the hotel unilaterally and by selling five vehicles owned by the company. The judge dissolved the joint ownership of both the Hotel Grand Bali Sani Suites and the Hotel Bali Sani Padma, granting Lie Thien Ping the right to sell the hotels, land, furniture, inventories and other items via auction. The judge also fined Soehardjo Gondo and affirmed the current seizure of

the hotels assets. Trouble at the hotels date from 2001 when Surabaya businessmen Soehardjo Gondo and Lie Thein Ping purchased the hotel together with Hendy Setiawan of Bali from the Bank Restructuring Agency. The value of that transaction was Rp. 23 billion (US$2 million) with management of the hotels to be handled by PT Sani Mitra Lestari. Based on the respective investment of each party, Soehardjo Gondo was issued 45% of the available shares, an amount equal to the shares held by Lie Thien Ping. The remaining 10% of the shares were issued to Hendy Setiawan. Relations between Lie and Soehardjo soured over time, with Soehardjo taking over the management of the hotels, reportedly without consulting the remaining two shareholders. In his successful efforts to

regain his share of the hotels, Lie Thien Ping also filed a civil suit against Soehardjo and a criminal complaint with the police alleging malfeasance and providing false statements. Www.balidiscovery.com

Pulling the Plug on New Investment. Inadequate Electrical Supply is Contributing to Slowdown of New Investments in Bali. The Jakarta Post reports that limited power supplies are causing headaches for domestic and foreign investors in Bali. Quoting the vice-chairman of the Bali branch of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (KADIN), Tedja Nandi Yasa, the lack of power on Bali's electrical grid has become severe: "We (Kadin) have been working hard to promote Bali, but the anxiety over the minimum electricity supply has eliminated almost 50 percent of the chance to invest here." According to Yasa, efforts to lobby both the central and provincial government to takes steps to increase electrical supplies have had minimum effect. It's unclear how much the

28

lack of electrical power is to blame for the steep downturn in new investment in Bali. The Bali Invesment Coordinating Board (BKPM-Bali) reported only US$5.12 million in new investment during Q1 2009 against a targeted US$572 million Currently, Bali's power grid has the capacity of handling 562 megawatts with peak hour consumption reaching 490 megawat. In a step to supplement power reserves, a controversial coal-powered plant is being built at Celukan Bawang in North Bali. Although designed to add 390 megwatts of additional power, that project is encountering numerous delays and is unlikely to come on line as scheduled by the end of 2010. Alternative plans to install an

extra-high-voltage aerial transmission line (SUTET) to bring 1,000 megwattas of power to Bali from East Java have been vetoed by Bali's governor. The governor's objections were reportedly based on his concrn that the proposed high power transmission lines would transect the the West Bali National Park, home of the last population of endangered Bali Starlings, and sacred temple areas on Bali. Economist Wayan Ramantha from Bali's Udayana University has pointed to Bali's poor infrastructure and public facilities as also contributing to the island's lack of attractiveness to potential investors. He also cited the lack of clear regulations and taxation systems. Www.balidiscovery.com

SCHAPELLE Corby has become paranoid, unkempt and has been seen carrying a doll around her prison cell as her mental condition deteriorates. Her mother, Rosleigh Rose, has flown from Australia to Bali to be with her daughter - the best medicine the convicted drug smuggler can have, according to her doctor. The 31-year-old was taken from Kerobokan jail, where she is serving a 20-year sentence, to Denpasar's police hospital late on Friday and is being treated by a private psychiatrist arranged by her family. Dr Danny Tong visited Corby for 15 minutes yesterday and said that while her condition was improving she was "very depressed" and was on medication, including anti-depressants. "Her mother is here. This is

the best medicine for anybody in the world," he said. Ms Rose spent the night in the hospital on Saturday and was with Corby again yesterday, as was Corby's sister Mercedes and her children. Dr Tong said Corby needed to be in a psychiatric hospital in the more secluded hill town of Bangli because she was suffering a "mental problem" and needed a change of environment. Special Section: Full coverage of Schapelle Corby's life However, he was uncertain if Indonesian authorities would allow this. A similar request was denied last year around the time Corby spent two weeks in hospital suffering severe depression. Dr Tong said Corby was brought to hospital because she had become "very illogical".

Asked what Corby needed to make her better, he said: "To be set free, I think." Those who have seen Corby say she looks confused, is often teary and at one stage was paranoid about the presence of police at the hospital. Corby was also seen walking around carrying a doll. "According to her cellmates she doesn't sleep at night," Kerobokan jail doctor Agung Hartawan said. "Sometimes she is blank. Sometimes she just hangs around the cell, sometimes she forgets about things. Sometimes she forgets to look after herself."

Western Bulldogs chasing interstate cash for AFL home games

Lombok Corner HOW TO GET TO LOMBOK???

Western Bulldogs president David Smorgon says the club will again be forced to sell home games interstate next year, and is open to offers to play in Tasmania. The Dogs' three-season deal to play home games in Canberra and Darwin expires this year, but their Etihad Stadium deal means they must continue to pursue lucrative interstate offers. The Dogs could not have picked a worse time to play their home game against Sydney at Canberra's Manuka Oval, with the Swans in white-hot form. In round 12 the Dogs take on Port Adelaide in Darwin, with the two interstate home games reaping them a total of $700,000. The Dogs would only break even if they played Sydney at Etihad Stadium in front of a crowd of 30,000, so selling home games is the difference between a year-end profit or loss. With an imminent breakthrough over the club's Etihad Stadium deal unlikely, Smorgon conceded the club would have to sell home games again next year. But he is open to offers across Australia, including from Tasmania, western Sydney, and Darwin. The offer to play games at Launceston's Aurora Stadium might rile the Hawks, who believe they have that market cornered. The Tasmanian Government said it

might throw open its multi-million dollar sponsorship deal once its contract with Hawthorn expired, in the hope of enticing a range of Melbourne clubs to Launceston. Smorgon said the club's supporters, coaches and players understood the need to play home games interstate, even if it was far from ideal. The Swans play 11 home games in Sydney and two away games in Canberra - with one against Melbourne while the Bulldogs play only nine home games in Victoria this year. "Obviously the reason we have had to sell games interstate for the last 12-13 years is to maximise our returns," Smorgon said. "But our objective is to play as many games in Melbourne as home games as we can," Smorgon said. "At this stage we haven't had any discussions with the AFL about where we go to from here, given our deals at Canberra and the Northern Territory end this year. "The AFL do the fixture and at the moment everything is up in the air. We have to be a bit patient until we work out where to next." He said playing home games in Launceston, western Sydney, Darwin or even Geelong's Skilled Stadium was

possible. "I wouldn't want to speculate on whether one is more of an option than the other," Smorgon said. "There is a big demand for AFL games around the nation. We are one of the clubs that for many years have always played interstate games, and our fans have got used to it because of the financial benefit they give us." He hoped the club may one day be able to play low-drawing games at Etihad Stadium and still make money. "Maybe it could run as a low-cost stadium (for interstate rivals) and we might be able to play those games there, but it's not up to us," he said. Smorgon is the spokesman for the AFL working party pushing for better deals at the MCG and Etihad Stadium. The group met Victorian Premier John Brumby on Thursday to discuss their concerns. "We had a cordial discussion with the Premier, who I believe understands the issue," Smorgon said. "We weren't seeking a resolution. That would have been unrealistic, but we are keeping the lines of communication open and pushing our case."

Pakistan have pulled fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar out of next month's World Twenty20 because of a genital infection, the Pakistan Cricket Board said. The 33-year-old missed last week's conditioning camp in a luxury Pakistani hill resort due and his omission had been widely expected after he missed the first of three practice matches. "We have pulled him out of the World Twenty20 on the basis of a medical report given by our doctor which said that Akhtar needs 10 days to recover from groin wounds,'' the PCB said. "The medical board has reported that Akhtar was suffering from genital viral warts." Akhtar becomes the first casualty of the 12-team event for which final 15-man squads were announced on May 5. The PCB said it had written to the technical committee of the World Twenty20 for the right to name a replacement after the fast bowler's fitness was assessed by a three-man panel on Thursday. Coach Intikhab Alam backed Akhtar's omission on fitness grounds. "We can't keep a half-fit player for a major event,'' Alam said. "He has not done any training for the last 15-20 days and missed last week's camp. His performance is for all to judge to

his form, so we had to take this decision and fortunately it happened before the event started." Akhtar is likely to be replaced by paceman Rao Iftikhar for the second edition of the World Twenty20, which starts in England from June 5. "We have sent Iftikhar's name as replacement and he attended the camp and is in good shape,'' said Alam. Asked whether Akhtar's troubled career was over, Alam said it was up to the bowler to work on his form. "He is out only for the World Twenty20 and now it's up to him to work on his fitness and earn a recall. He was selected in the squad but he failed to keep his fitness and his career depends on fitness.'' Akhtar, plagued by injury since his debut in 1997, managed to play just four Twenty20 matches last year due to fitness and discipline problems. "It's disappointing to miss out, but my best wishes are with the team and captain Younus Khan,'' Akhtar said. "I played international cricket only because of Pakistan, so I always pray for my team and country,'' he said. Ahktar was dropped from the team after getting just one wicket in the two one-day matches internationals

against Sri Lanka in February. He was later ruled out of the Test series because of knee problems. The series was ultimately abandoned after gunmen attacked the Sri Lanka team bus en route to the stadium in Lahore. Akhtar was then included in Pakistan's squad for their five one-dayers and one Twenty20 match series against Australia in the United Arab Emirates this month. He took three wickets in four oneday matches but did not complete his allotted 10 overs in any of the matches. He only bowled two overs in the one-off Twenty20 match against Australia in Dubai, conceding 18 runs. The mercurial paceman was also included in the inaugural World Twenty20 squad held in South Africa in 2007 but was expelled two days before the event for assaulting teammate Mohammad Asif with a bat. Akhtar was also left out of Pakistan's squad for the Cricket World Cup held in the Caribbean in 2007 after he failed to recover from ankle and knee problems. A year later, he was banned for five years following his outburst against the PCB over being axed from a central contract. An appeal committee reduced the ban to 18 months but also levied a fine of seven million rupees ($122,000).

“On this wicket, chasing 144 was not a big task,'' Kumble said. He said the loss of Ross Taylor and Virat Kohli off successive balls from Andrew Symonds, soon after the departure of batting mainstay Rahul Dravid, put the brakes on his team's challenge. “In spite of that we were one hit away from victory.'' After sending Deccan in on a slow pitch, Kumble struck a devastating blow when he dismissed Gilchrist. Fresh from his match-winning innings of 85 off 35 balls against the Delhi Daredevils in the semi-finals, Gilchrist showed impatience after failing to score off the first two deliveries from Kumble. He charged down the pitch to the third ball but failed to read a googly which went past his bat into the stumps. Mission accomplished, Kumble took himself off but came back into the attack in the ninth over and ended a promising innings by Symonds, who hit 33 off 21 balls in a third wicket stand of 40 with Gibbs. Symonds missed a pull and was unlucky when the ball bounced off his body and onto the wicket. Once again Kumble took himself off, with figures of two for five from two overs. Rohit Sharma added 52 with Gibbs before Kumble, in his final spell of two overs, struck again when Sharma was well caught at long-off by a diving Pandey. Four balls later Kumble capped a superb performance when Venugopal Rao was caught for a duck at deep cover off the Bangalore captain's final delivery. Despite making a half-century and batting through the innings, Gibbs was unable to dominate the bowling and did not get enough of the strike, facing only 48 of the 120 balls of the innings. At the mid-innings break

he had scored only 13 off 22 balls. Bangalore made a cautious start, scoring only five runs off the first two overs. But Jacques Kallis hit two fours off the third over, bowled by Ryan Harris, and hit another boundary off RP Singh before he was bowled off a bottom edge when he attempted a pull shot against Singh. Manish Pandey, who hit a century against Deccan in the final round robin match three days earlier, was caught behind off left-arm spinner Praghan Ojha's first ball after making only four. Roelof van der Merwe, sent in as a pinch hitter, gave the innings impetus with a typical mixture of wild swings and solid hits. He hit two sixes off Harris and another off Andrew Symonds before he was stumped off Ojha for 32 off 21 balls. Despite the loss of Rahul Dravid, bowled by Harmeet Singh when he tried to flick the ball to leg, Bangalore looked to be cruising to victory until Ross Taylor and Virat Kohli fell to Andrew Symonds off successive balls. Taylor top-edged a pull to long leg and Kohli was superbly stumped down the leg side by Gilchrist. Mark Boucher cut Harmeet Singh to South African team-mate Herschelle Gibbs at backward point and suddenly Bangalore needed 37 off 25 balls with only three wickets left. It proved too many.

Former India captain Anil Kumble produced a magnificent bowling performance for the Bangalore Royal Challengers but could not prevent the Deccan Chargers from winning the Indian Premier League final by six runs at the Wanderers. Leg-spinner Kumble opened the bowling, dismissed danger man Adam Gilchrist with his third ball, and took 4-18 as Deccan were restricted to 6-143. Herschelle Gibbs hit an unbeaten 53 for the Chargers. It seemed an eminently achievable target but Bangalore were unable to put any big partnerships together as the tension mounted in front of a capacity crowd. Two wickets in two balls by Andrew Symonds reduced Bangalore to 699 and they could only manage 9-137. “It could have gone either way,'' admitted Gilchrist, who was named player of the tournament. Deccan finished last in the first IPL in India in 2008, with Bangalore second from the bottom. “Bangalore felt the same disappointments last year as we felt,'' Gilchrist said. “To see them turn it around and to put up such a great final is a credit to their franchise.'' Gilchrist said left-arm spinner Praghan Ojha, who took 3-28, did a “wonderful job'' for Deccan. “As they say, in finals to have runs on the board is always a good position to be in.'' Kumble, named man of the match for taking 4-18, said he was proud of his team for winning five games in a row to reach the final.

Anderson's status as England's attacking spearhead represents quite a contrast to earlier this year when he was left out of the first Test against West Indies in the Caribbean. England derailed the Australians in 2005 by creating detailed plans tailored to each individual batsman and Anderson will be integral to their effort this time with his ability to swing the ball, whether new or old. "I've got my own expectations," Anderson said. "I know what I can achieve in the Ashes. I know how big a part I can play and how important I am to this group of lads here. That impressive form has the 26year-old being tipped by experts, including former England coach Duncan Fletcher, as the man capable of helping England regain the Ashes when the Test series starts in July. Traces of cocaine found in Red Bull Cola Weird True Freaky RED Bull Cola may be banned in Germany after traces of cocaine were found in samples of the drink. Six German states have ordered retailers to stop selling the beverage and more are expected to follow this week. Samples of the popular drink examined by the German food authorities were found to contain 0.4 micrograms of cocaine per litre. They were said the have been caused by the method of processing a cocoa leaf. 'The institute examined Red Bull Cola in an elaborate chemical process and found traces of cocaine,' Bernhard Kuehnle, head of the food safety department at the German federal ministry for consumer protection said. Germany's Federal Institute for Risk Assessment said the cocaine level was too low to pose a health risk. It planned to produce a more detailed report tomorrow. A spokesperson for Red Bull Australia said: "Germany authorities have raised concerns regarding Red Bull Cola due to the use of a decocainised coca leaf extract in the product. We are in contact with the authorities to clarify the issue.

"Decocainised Coca leaf extracts are used as flavouring in foodstuffs around the world and are considered as safe (eg FDA Gras Status, Council of Europe). Red Bull Cola and other foodstuff containing such extracts may therefore be sold legally. "Recent product analysis has confirmed that the leaf extract use in Red Bull Simply Cola is safe." New Zealand woman fighting Red Bull addiction Meanwhile in New Zealand, a 23-year-old mother who lost 45kg in eight months by drinking nothing but Red Bull says she has ongoing health problems because of the diet. Brooke Robertson shrank from

105kg to 60kg drinking nothing but 10 to 14 cans a day. "I just started drinking it. I wasn't sleeping, I wasn't eating - I was exhausted,'' she told the Herald on Sunday. "I just continued to drink it because it's an appetite suppressant and I noticed I was losing weight so stuck with it.'' Following a minor heart attack, Ms Robertson was admitted to hospital where she was weaned off Red Bull. "I managed to wean myself off it by being in hospital for that long but I had severe withdrawals - sweating, nausea, shaking. It was an addiction. The doctors stated that.'' She said she has a heart murmur, gets severe pain and cramping in her stomach and bowel, and suffers anxiety attacks. A Red Bull spokesman said there was “scientific evidence that caffeine is not addictive”. Red Bull is available in 148 countries. It is banned in Norway, Denmark and Uruguay and now Germany because of health fears. www.news.com.au

Serial peeping Toms terrorise women in Sydney ZANNY Howe and Katrina Maclean live with the fear that someone is watching them - all of the time. They are two victims of scores of peeping Tom perverts terrorising young women in Sydney. Police say men have been preying on young women in their homes, spying on them through ground floor windows and lurking outside apartments in a two-year campaign of fear. Sydney police say a growing number of peeping and prying offences have been reported in the city's upmarket east in the past two years and fear the number of actual cases has been underreported. The problem is so bad, some female Bondi residents have gone to the extent of having sensor lights installed outside their windows and at least one woman has been forced by fear to move from the area. The women told The Daily Telegraph the same man has returned to their house repeatedly, prompting fears they are following the women's movements. One of the men has already been charged and was before the courts, but Detective Inspector

got up the courage to get up and call the police." The bold pervert has since visited the women five times, each time more frightening than the last. The girls are convinced he lives nearby, follows their movements and, most disturbingly, "gets off on our fear". Returning from drinks with friends late last December, a slightly tipsy Ms Maclean, 35, was dancing to music, dressed in her underwear when she heard a "tap, tap" at the kitchen window. Don't expect government to save you: Downer It's time for "lazy or silly" Australian tourists who get in trouble overseas to take responsibility for their own actions, former foreign affairs minister Alexander Downer says. In an article written for the Adelaide Advertiser, Mr Downer cites the recent case involving Melbourne woman Annice Smoel who was accused of stealing a bar mat from a Thai bar, the Schappelle Corby case, and the evacuation of thousands of Australians from waraffected Lebanon in 2006. "After about 10 minutes as foreign minister I was a little surprised to learn I was 'responsible' for miscreant

Australians who got into trouble in foreign countries," he wrote. "No, no, no, don't get it wrong drug traffickers, drunks, kleptomaniacs and fraudsters weren't responsible for their own stupidity - I was. "It's about time that great nanny in Canberra, the federal government, turned around and told people they are responsible for their own decisions." Mr Downer says the Australian government could not perform miracles in other countries, and tourists should be more aware of what is expected of them when they travel. "There are no special laws for Australians overseas. Foreigners make the laws over there, not us," he wrote. "If you're too dumb or idle to

read the travel advisories and too mean to take out travel insurance when you go overseas then you ought to take responsibility for your own behaviour. "Sure, if there's a catastrophe like the Bali bombings or you're trapped in a corruption scam the government should try to help. "But not if you're too lazy and silly to help yourself." Mr Downer was foreign affairs minister from 1996 to 2007

AFL Premiership Another eight games, another bunch of highlights, lowlights, winners, grinners, sinners and moments to remember. Here's our take on round nine of AFL. The Brownlow Banker: Two contrasting players stood out from the pack this week. Collingwood travelled to Subiaco minus their most potent weapons in Anthony Rocca, Alan Didak and Paul Medhurst, their season in freefall. Enter Leon Davis. He was at his freakish best picking up 32 possessions and kicking three goals in the Pies 22-point win. But his best on ground performance was overshadowed by Adelaide Crows tagger Michael Doughty. He gets our three votes this week after his sensational job on Carlton champion Chris Judd. Doughty kept Judd to less that 20 possessions, which is almost unheard of, while picking up 26 himself. It was as good a tag as you are ever going to see. The Golden Moment: On Indigenous Round weekend it would have been fitting if this gong could have been given to either Nathan Lovett-Murray or Paddy Ryder. Both took absolute screamers against Richmond during Dreamtime at the 'G. But the pair were outdone by Swans backman Heath Grundy who took arguably the mark of the year so far against Port Adelaide. Grundy soared over Darren Jolly and Troy Chaplin to take the hanger that coach Paul Roos labelled the best grab he had seen in 15 years. Didn't See That Coming: For about 15 enthralling minutes on Sunday this looked a no brainer. Brisbane Lions blistering start to the fourth quarter against St Kilda looked likely to end the Saints unbeaten run. But it wasn't to be. Instead it was Collingwood that dodged a bullet and ended the weekend with a much-needed, backs-to-the-wall win. On paper Collingwood getting up over the struggling West Coast Eagles might not raise too many eyebrows but it was big. After recent and heavy losses to Carlton and St Kilda and missing the star power of Rocca, Medhurst, Didak and Travis Cloke the Pies went in underdogs. They emerged with a win to be proud of. The Biggest Flop: Daniel Motlop. The poor fella had the salivating eyes of the AFL world watching him on Sunday hoping for Motlop-magic. Footage on foxsports.com.au of Motlop performing the impossible during the week went viral with more than 100,000 watching the video on Friday alone. The freakish feats had the Swans backmen shaking in the lead-up to their Sunday clash at the SCG. Unfortunately Motlop could not conjure up even a whisper of magic managing just 13 disposals and limping off the field late in the game. Watch This Space: The Carlton bubble has burst. Well, in truth they have been flailing for a while. But so far coach

Brett Ratten has escaped the scrutiny of many of his under-performing peers. Carlton began the season so well. Their round one thumping of Richmond was an eye opener. Their number one draft picks in Murphy, Gibbs and Kruezer, under the guidance of Judd, had the makings of a powerhouse onball brigade. But the Blues are slipping and after their loss to Adelaide Crows on the weekend they dropped out of the eight for the first time this season. The magnifying glass is about to burn Ratten and his Blues. Spray Of The Week: Couple of crackers here. After watching the Swans pile on eight goals to the Power's solitary major Port coach Mark Williams blew a gasket at quarter time. Spit and froth went flying as he took a bite out of his squad. It was pretty terrifying, but wholly warranted. However Dean Laidley gets the gong this week. His tirade at quarter time in North Melbourne's clash with Fremantle was heard in the nose-bleed section. It was full of cussing and cursing and his squad felt every word. It might not have been much more brutal than Williams' but he gets the award because whatever he said worked. The Roos rallied and ran away with the game, Laidley's spray ringing in their ears. The Last Laugh: It wasn't a full on belly laugh because it never had the time to develop into one. But Richmond's Mitch Morton put a hellish week behind him with the opening goal of the game against Essendon on the weekend. Morton was blamed for the Tigers three-point loss to Port Adelaide last week and copped a lashing from coach Terry Wallace which sparked a mid-week crisis meeting at the club. However Morton goaled inside the first two minutes against Essendon, the whole team making a point to get around the forward and congratulate him. The euphoria did not last with the Tigers going down. Couple of crackers here. The euphoria did not last with the Tigers going down. Wouldn't Want To Be You: I'll tell you who I did not want to be on Sunday and that was Russell Robertson. Hands down clanger of the year, give him the award now. Robertson was being quietly dismantled by Hawthorn's Campbell Brown when finally the Demons forward got one up on him. Robertson took an excellent mark over Brown in the goal square and landed on his back, cradling the ball. But a certain, and much-needed goal went begging when Robertson played on from the ground, comically air swinging at the ball which was picked up by Hawk Garry Moss standing on the goal line. Robertson copped an earful from the coach after he was dragged and without doubt he'll cop much worse from his 'mates' all week at training. What's His Name Again He Had A Belter: It was not until the final game of the round that we got a clear cut winner here. And what makes it even better is the story behind the man. Beau Muston made his AFL debut for Hawthorn against Melbourne Demons on Sunday after a horror run of three knee reconstructions. So many nights Muston must have been kept awake fearing his dream would never materialise. Well it did and he throttled it. Muston, 22, had 31 touches, kicked a goal and looked made for the game at the top level. Sadly he might be in a bit of judiciary trouble already after a late hit on Colin Sylvia, but no doubt he relished the stellar debut on Sunday night. What You Won't See This Week: Geelong coach Mark Thompson and St Kilda coach Ross Lyon walk out on their respective clubs citing player unrest. Despite the AFL hosting two teams with 9-0 records for the first time in the competition's history players from both clubs intimate a lack of enjoyment due to tyrannical reigns from defence minded coaches as reasons for disquiet. Thompson and Lyons step down to avoid player boycotts.

The Last Laugh: It wasn't a full on belly laugh because it never had the time to develop into one. But Richmond's Mitch Morton put a hellish week behind him with the opening goal of the game against

Lesbian model Katherine Dalton has sex change to become gay man

KATHERINE Dalton was a model with sexy curves, a perfect pout and long, blonde hair. She was in big demand. Beneath her beauty though lay a secret which had troubled her from an early age - she felt she was a man and found herself attracted to girls rather than guys. “For years I was a man trapped in a woman's body. And although I was a beautiful woman I felt ugly because I was not who I wanted to be,"

the 31-year-old told The Sun. Katherine is now Adrian after a sex change operation. He works for an investment firm and wants to travel and live in Australia. "Now I feel complete and it is fantastic," Adrian said. "Going through the op to be a man was scary but it's the most fulfilling thing I've done and I feel right for the first time in my life."After two years of psychotherapy in her early twenties, Katherine was sent to a gender expert and diagnosed a transexual. “By the end of the second year of therapy I'd cut my hair short and started asking friends to call me Adrian," he said. “There's no special significance in the name - I just wanted something that didn't sound as butch as Dave or Mike.”

In December 2005 Adrian embarked on the first part of his journey to becoming a man. He had major surgery two weeks ago in Belgium and will return for more work in a year's time. Then doctors say he will be a complete man. Adrian now though says he is gay. “I used to be attracted to women in my teens but I now consider myself gay."

Daddy's car in the woods? Little Johnny watched his daddy's car pass by the school playground and go into the woods. Curious, he followed the car and saw Daddy and Aunt Jane in a passionate embrace. Little Johnny found this so exciting that he could hardly contain himself as he ran home and started to tell his mother. 'Mummy, I was at the playground and I saw Daddy's car go into the woods with Aunt Jane. I went back to look and he was giving Aunt Jane a big kiss, and then he helped her take off her shirt. Then Aunt Jane helped Daddy take his pants off, then Aunt Jane...' At this point Mummy cut him off and said, 'Johnny, this is such an interesting story, lets save the rest of it for supper time. I want to see the look on Daddy's face when you tell it tonight.' At the dinner table that evening, Mummy asked little Johnny to tell his story . Johnny started his story, 'I was at the playground and I saw Daddy's car go into the woods with Aunt Jane. I went back to look and he was giving Aunt Jane a big kiss, then he helped her take off her shirt. Then Aunt Jane helped Daddy take his pants off, then Aunt Jane and Daddy started doing the same thing that Mummy and Uncle Bill used to do when Daddy was away on the rigs.' Mummy fainted!

Moral: Sometimes you need to just shut the f##k up and listen to the whole story before you interrupt! 20

New Zealand toddler Pipi Quinlan wins auction for Kobelco digger A TODDLER with a love of toy tractors and earthmovers bought herself the ultimate treat - a $15,600 piece of heavy machinery. While her parents were sleeping, three-year-old New Zealand girl Pipi Quinlan managed to log onto the family computer and accessed an online auction site, the Rodney Times reports. Pipi then submitted a bid of on one of the items on the website - a

massive Kobelco digger. She won the auction. When her mother, Sarah Quinlan, woke up and logged onto the computer, she thought the successful bid was for some Lego she wanted to buy. But then she saw the price of the "Lego". "It wasn't until I went back and re-read the emails that I saw $NZ20,000, and got the shock of my

life," Ms Quinlan told the Times. "I called my husband Reid over to make sure I wasn't seeing things. "I asked him what a Kobelco was and he said 'I think it's an earthmoving digger'." She called the website and told staff that her daughter had accidentally made the bid. The website cancelled the sale and refunded the seller's listing costs.

Bank error couple 'on holiday' A NEW Zealand couple who fled overseas after receiving $10 million in a bank error told a friend they were going on a holiday before vanishing. New Zealand police and Interpol are investigating the case. It is believed $4 million has been recovered, with $6 million still missing. The Rotorua couple applied for a $100,000 loan but a Westpac employee deposited $10 million into their account instead. Detective Senior Sergeant David Harvey of Rotorua CIB said police and Westpac were investigating the "inappropriate operation" of a business acount where money had been withdrawn and that the couple had fled

overseas, reported The Dominion Post. The money is thought to have been transfered to an account for a BP service station partially owned by Korean Leo Gao, who fled overseas with his New Zealand girlfriend Kara Young after receiving the milions by mistake. The owner of a nearby bakery, Helaine Aim, said she last saw the couple two weeks ago. "They told me they were planning a holiday," Helaine Aim told The Dominion Post. "I did not see them for a couple of days. I thought it was a little strange but didn't think much about it because I thought they were busy preparing for the holiday," The applied for a loan to

renovate the BP station before selling it, said Ms Aim. Westpac's Craig Dowling said a "substantial amount" of the money had been recovered and the bank was "aggressively pursuing all avenues" to recover the rest. The bank worker who made the mistake is unlikely to be fired. "It's not uncommon in the day-today business of data entry in a bank for mistakes to be made," Finance worker's union Finsec spokesman Andrew Campbell said, reported NZPA. "The general rule in relation to negligence is that if there's not intention, assuming there wasn't, then that's normally not gross misconduct, so generally wouldn't be a dismissible offence," said Mr Campbell.

Chk-Chk Boom girl Clare Werbeloff to reveal all trying to fool the world's media with her elaborate, eyewitness account of a shooting in Sydney's Kings Cross. It just kind of happened that way, The Australian reports. Werbeloff, the "Chk-Chk Boom Girl", will tonight tell A Current Affair how a 3am prank turned her into a global media star, with T-shirts and beer mugs made in her honour, and the offer of a bikini shoot on the table. A Current Affair reporter Ben Fordham said Werbeloff had no idea the footage of her "eyewitness account" would even go to air, let alone go global. "She just did it, and then

went home and next thing she knew, the phone started ringing," Fordham said. "Then police got in touch with her and said: 'Is this real? Because if it's real, you are going to have to make a statement.' She told them: 'I didn't actually see anything'."When a news crew asked for witnesses to the shooting in Kings Cross, Werbeloff, who longs to be famous, stepped forward on the spur of the moment - and straight into instant celebrity. "There were these two wogs fighting," Ms Werbeloff said to the camera. "The fatter wog said to the skinnier wog: 'Oi bro, you slept with

my cousin.' And the other one said: 'Nah man, I didn't for shit, eh' and the other one goes: 'I will call on my fully sick boys, eh.' And then pulled out a gun and went 'chkchk boom'.”
