Q4. What movement does the Trapezius muscle facilitate? It draws the scapula up and down and the shoulders back.

Q7. Name two calf muscles. Gastrocnemius , Soleus muscle.

Q8. How much muscle tissue is found in the hand? The hand itself contains very little muscle as this would make it awkward and interfere with its capacity for lifting and grasping. Q9. Where in the body would you find the Pectoralis Major and the Soleus? Pectoralis Major - Front chest , Soleus - Back of calf.

LESSON FIVE

Q1. Give an example of when you might use a surrogate for testing. When the subject may suffer from severe pain or paralysis, may be old or frail, have a broken limb or be a baby or small child. In these cases we use a surrogate for the muscle testing.

Q2. What do you understand by I.M. testing? Any muscle of the body which is strong and functioning normally can be used as the single, indicator muscle. when a muscle tests 'strong' it indicates that the energy circuit is clear. The brain can therefore cope with the pressure applied by the tester, without stress. If the muscle tests 'weak' this indicates momentary disorganisation in the brain which cannot cope with two stressors. (a) the stress of keeping the muscle in position; (b) the stressor already in stimulation which is causing blockage of energy flow. Q3. What are the normal positions of the body (not the muscle) for testing? lying face up , sitting or standing position.

Q4. Name 5 common allergens? Pollens , Mould Spores, Dairy Products ,Tap Water , House dust

Q5. Give 3 examples of allergy reaction symptoms. Skin rashes ,Itching and irritation, Headaches.

Q6. To which allergen has the disease Multiple Sclerosis been linked? severe intolerance to wheat.

Q7. In allergy testing, to which part of the body should the substance to be tested, applied? the navel.

Q8. For what purpose is a half glass of pure water drunk before testing? to avoid dehydration.

Q9. How would you help the subject to relax before testing? breathing should be suggested as tension is allowed to release from the muscles. apply pressure to the two acupressure holding points on the brow prominences for about 60 seconds . OR apply pressure to the two indentations on either side of sternum approximately 5 cm below collarbone with thumb and forefinger for about 60 seconds.
