CHAPTER 4 FACILITIES AND RESOURCES English Department The English Department provides English support program aimed at assisting students to improve their proficiency in academic work. The program includes integrating Academic English (Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing Skill and Grammar) and functional ways of expressing oneself. The courses are conducted commensurate with the students’ level of ability. While Bahasa Indonesia is the medium of instruction throughout most of the country, IBMT instruction is conducted solely in English as we expect our university students to read, write and present papers in English. This policy is sometimes barrier to those who do not have extensive educational background in English when expressing themselves appropriately as well as understanding oral and written discourse. With this consideration in mind, the English Department commits to solving medium of instruction problems. The English Department provides an intensive English program aimed at assisting students to improve their English proficiency, which enables them to carry out their academic work. The instruction is given commensurate with the students’ level of ability. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and the Test of Written (TWE) are given to measure students’ proficiency before transferring to overseas universities.

Library IBMT library supports study and research for all faculty and students. It makes available books, magazines, newspapers and other publications for student reference (books, videos, and other reference materials are also made available to students through cooperation with the United States Information Service. It is open from 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday).

Computing and Internet Services Our computing department provides microcomputers available at no charge for registered IBMT students. Facilities on the second floor contain twenty-three units of microcomputers and five Internet stations. The facility is open from 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday, except when the facility is being used by classes. IBMT also provided Wi-Fi free internet access for IBMT’s students.
