“から” is used to indicate a reason, similar to “because” in English. With “から”, the reason comes first (unlike English), and should be in the plain form. 例: ペンがないから新しいのを買う。 学生だから仕事はしていない。
I’m buying a new pen because I don’t have one. That person doesn’t have a job because he’s a student.

今日はシアトルに行く。会議があるから。
I’m going to Seattle today. It’s because I have a meeting there.
