The way to say “and” with predicates (sentence endings) is with the -て form. YOU CANNOT USE と. Verbs (どうし ): For class 1 verbs, change the final part of the word according to the following chart: う、つ、る って ぶ、む、ぬ んで く いて ぐ いで す して For example: わかる→わかって まつ→まって かう→かって よぶ→よんで しぬ→しんで よむ→よんで
かく→かいて およぐ→およいで はなす→はなして ***Exception: いく→いって ***Exception:する→して ***Exception:くる→くて
For class 2 verbs, change the final る to て. For example: たべる→たべて みる→みて *NOTE: this is exactly the same is making the past/complete form of the plain form verb, except it ends in an e sound instead of an a sound. i-adjectives (けいようし ): Change the final い to くて. For example: たかい→たかくて おもしろい→おもしろくて あたたかい→あたたかくて Noun + desu (めいし +です ): Change です to で. For example: です→で
