DO YOU WANT TO BE A GLOBAL FELLOW? The Global Fellows Internship Program encourages exploration of international work experience. This is a competitive internship program that provides selected students with international internship experience in Asia. The program is open to U.S. citizens of all majors and provides stipends for USC undergraduates (freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors graduating in December) to live and work in Asia for eight weeks during the summer. Applications and supporting materials must be completed and returned to the Internship Programs Office (STU B1) by 5:00 pm on December 11, 2009. Pathways LA – Community Outreach Intern ($1200/10 weeks) The purpose of this internship position is to learn about Community Outreach in the nonprofit setting. The intern will assist the agency in analysis of client participation and increase of client recruitment by participating in many responsibilities. Assess and provide data analysis of service area. Assist with customer service surveys and interviews with clients. Identify potential community partners. Assist in identifying target outreach areas. Create flyers, surveys, etc. for outreach purposes. Update and create data reports based on outreach findings. Participate in meetings with Program Managers and Directors to discuss results of outreach efforts and trends. The intern will report to his/her preceptor, the Manager of the Resource & Referral programs at Pathways LA. Minimum 4th year level+ student. Must have reliable transportation. Fox Mobile Group – Marketing/Communications Intern ($10/hr) The Fox Mobile Group Interns objectives will be to assist in synchronizing with 20th Century Fox Theatrical, Fox Home Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting and Fox Sports to obtain and develop content/entertainment for mobile distribution globally. Develop marketing tools and presentations that are representative of our mobile platforms and capabilities. Work with internal groups to track and review current promotional campaigns and initiatives. Goals for Intern: To develop an understanding of the entertainment business, particularly mobile entertainment and the way it is changing how consumers digest entertainment on a global basis. Qualifications: (preferred courses of study, computer proficiency, skills etc.) Communications, Business (International a plus), Marketing. Must be proficient at Microsoft office and especially PowerPoint. All candidates must be registered with the internship program at their educational institution. T. Howard Foundation – Internship Program (Summer) The T. Howard Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to increasing diversity in the multimedia and entertainment industry. Focusing on women and multi-ethnic groups, the foundation carries out its mission through a comprehensive program for college students that consists of: an internship program that gives students industry knowledge and experience; professional development, that prepares students for their internship and the corporate environment; career awareness that recruits students by making them aware of career opportunities in the industry; and industry awareness that identifies and recruits multimedia organizations that will host interns. Students who become T. Howard interns are placed at major media companies that partner with the Foundation in support of our mission. A few of those partners include Comcast, DIRECTV, Discovery, ESPN, FOX, HBO, Intelsat, Lifetime, MTV, NBC Universal, Rainbow Media, Showtime, Time Warner Cable, and Turner Network Sales. Eric Breindel Memorial Foundation – Journalism Internship (+ $10,000 Award) The Eric Breindel Memorial Foundation is pleased to announce that applications for the “2010 Eric Breindel Collegiate Journalism Award,” the nationwide undergraduate competition whose winning prize is unmatched by any institution in the country, are now being accepted. The winner will secure the following awards: A cash prize of $10,000, A paid internship of his or her choice at Fox News Channel, The Wall Street Journal or the New York Post and Residential housing in New York City, if necessary. The Eric Breindel Memorial Foundation will present the award to the undergraduate columnist, editorialist or reporter whose work best reflects the spirit of the writings by Eric Breindel: Love of country and its democratic institutions as well as the act of bearing witness to the evils of totalitarianism. The award, created in memory of the New York Post editor and columnist, includes opinion journalism, news coverage and online articles. It is open to undergraduate writers and reporters of all political convictions and backgrounds and submissions may include college newspapers, magazines or periodicals, as well as online articles published on accredited college institution web sites. The award recognizes the editorial pursuit of freedom and American ideals. Last year’s winner, Carl J. Kelm, was a recent graduate of Stanford University with a major in political science and a minor in history and chose an internship at The Wall Street Journal. Those who wish to be considered should submit no more than two editorials, columns or news stories, per person, written in the 2009-2010 academic year. Articles specifically produced for and published by an established newspaper or magazine web site will be accepted as well as internet exclusive material. All rules governing submissions appear on the attached page. A confidential panel of judges appointed by the Foundation will judge the entries. The winner will be announced in June 2010. Edelman Children’s Court – Student Intern The Office of the Presiding Judge at the Edelman Children’s Court is looking for a student intern to support the Court’s research attorneys. Organization, maturity, excellent communication skills and the ability to think and work independently are each required. Although prior legal experience is not necessary, we are looking for someone who is motivated to learn about juvenile law. Duties will primarily include processing requests for juvenile court records. Through this work, the student will learn about the procedural aspects of the dependency and delinquency courts, how to interpret statutes, and how to read court documents. The student will also have the opportunity to observe Court proceedings and attend policy meetings. Other duties include copying, filing, and data entry. Knowledge of Word and Excel are preferred. Houlihan Lokey Financial Advisors has a Publications Department which oversees the preparation and production of various industry specific newsletters and publications. We are looking for a part-time intern to assist in the production of our weekly media, sports and entertainment newsletter (the "Newsletter"). Candidates should be able to work approximately fifteen to twenty hours per week starting immediately and continuing throughout the school year. Work with the Publications Manager to produce the weekly Newsletter. Review company, industry, economic and other news reports, to understand events and prepare narrative summaries of this data within certain parameters for insertion into the Newsletter. Download publicly available data on a periodic basis to populate certain financial models used in publishing the Newsletter. Monitor and review the preparation of certain models created by off-site personnel for accuracy, relevance and timeliness. Coordinate the preparation of the Newsletter according to internal deadlines. Make recommendations to the Publications Manager in order to enhance the effectiveness of the preparation of the Newsletter. Reviewing news articles/reports and writing narratives approximately 80% of time; Quantitative aspect of position approximately 20% of time. Dreamworks Animation – International Consumer Products Intern Now accepting resumes for the Spring Program (part-time, credit-only) starting around 1/25/10. DreamWorks Animation seeks an Intern for the International Consumer Products department in Glendale, CA. Intern will be exposed to the inner workings of the international retail initiatives primarily focused in Europe. The department is responsible for creating overarching promotions at retail related to our theatrical releases, including activities like movie product feature areas, contests, & media coordination (i.e. catalogs, circulars, radio, TV). Intern will work closely with department in creating presentations & support documentation for international markets. The ideal candidate should have an interest in Marketing, Promotions, and/or Retail in international markets. Must have strong PC proficiency, including knowledge of Word, Excel, and especially PowerPoint. Must have strong internet research skills. Children’s Hospital Los Angeles – Research Intern (2 Openings) The Vision Center at Childrens Hospital houses an extensive research program, including treatment trials, epidemiologic studies and retrospective case studies. Our commitment to research in the Eye Birth Defects Institute has led to the development of new knowledge about optic nerve hypoplasia, hypopituitarism, septo-optic dysplasia and other epidemic conditions. We are conducting the largest clinical study in the world to determine outcomes and risk factors involved with optic nerve hypoplasia. We currently have seven studies on optic nerve hypoplasia with topics ranging from prenatal risk factors to autism to endocrinopathies. We have an exciting opportunity for a research intern to assist in the following areas: Creation of study documents; Maintence of study regulatory documents; Enter data using the electronic database system (liquid office); Assemble case report form files. Candidates will also have the opportunity to attend research meetings and trainings. Excellent

FELLOWSHIPS 2010 International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program The Ralph J. Bunche International Affairs Center of Howard University, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of State, invites college sophomores, juniors and seniors to apply for the International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program at Howard University. This program is designed to help students, particularly African-American and other minority group students, increase their understanding of international affairs issues and learn about and prepare for career opportunities in international affairs. This will be a six-week program, for which up to 9 credit hours (three courses) of academic credit in international studies may be awarded. The program emphasizes skills, strategies, and knowledge students will need to master for success in the area of international affairs and in the competitive Foreign Service examination process. To give participants greater insight into the policymaking process and international affairs careers, the program includes visits to the State Department, other U.S. government agencies, and Capitol Hill, as well as meetings with representatives of non-governmental groups. The Rangel Program will cover tuition, travel, room, and board for students accepted into the program. Participants also receive a stipend. Students must be American citizens, be full-time undergraduate students who have completed their sophomore year in college before the program begins, and have at least a 3.2 grade point average. The selection committee may consider students who have completed their freshman year if they have significant international experience. Application deadline February 12, 2010. Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Graduate Fellowship Program Howard University, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of State, invites outstanding individuals interested in international affairs and careers in the U.S. Foreign Service to apply for the 2010 Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Graduate Fellowships. Graduating seniors and recent college graduates with strong academic records and an interest in international affairs are encouraged to apply. The Rangel Program encourages the application of members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service and those with financial need. Those selected will receive support for graduate school and enter into one of the most exciting and rewarding careers available. We expect to provide 20 fellowships in 2010. Program Benefits : • An orientation to the Program and the Foreign Service at Howard University in Washington, D.C. • Two paid summer internships, one on Capitol Hill the summer after selection and one overseas in a U.S. embassy during the summer between the first and second years of graduate school. • Up to $34,000 annually toward tuition, fees and living expenses for a two-year master’s degree in international affairs, public administration or other relevant area to the work of the Foreign Service. • Mentoring from a Foreign Service Officer throughout the duration of the fellowship
