The article states that schools should train teachers to use technology to its fullest advantage before integrate technology into the classrooms. The lecturer agrees with the author of the article. He support the article by showing some examples. Firstly, the article claims that a large percentage of teachers does not use technology in class, and those who use technology do not use it effectively. The lecturer supports this idea by talking about a survey of over one hundred schools in the US. The result is 96 percent of the teachers are only trained basic computer skills, so they cannot incorporate technology well into class. Therefore, the using of computers does not improve students’ learning significantly. He also points out that some teachers claim they will not use technology in class because they are not familiar with computers. Secondly, the article states that teachers who have good skills in technology can help their students’ learning improve. He claims that those teachers help students develop high order thinking skills and get higher scores in math tests. The profesor support this point by mentioning an example of a school which has successfully integrate technology into class. This school’s training program involved teachers learning to use computer directly with students. They were also trained with a mentor, so that they can learn more advanced computer skills. These teacher, therefore, have the ability to intruct students to use computer software to solve problems. The result shows that these teachers’ students score significantly higher in tests.
