By the end of the lesson you will:  Be

Induction Providing a new member of staff with a structured introduction to the organisation and its employees.

Induction should help new staff:  Become

familiar with their duties and responsibilities  Help staff deliver effective customer service  Help staff familiarise themselves with their new work environment  Settle into their new job  Establish working relationships

Activity Imagine you work for the Human resource department at Thomas Cook and are responsible for the induction programme Work out an induction programme for the new employees at their first day at work Work in pairs

Effective induction procedures should include  Guided

tours  Videos showing details of the organisation  Team building exercises  Ice breakers

Training There are two types of training: • On the job training • Off the job training
