Action items and Summary of Proceedings Action items: Julie: email Brighton to come on Tue Sam and Luke: create facebook Sam: getting council together gather opinions as to whether we go online or not? Sam: figure out voting (people present or all council members?) Nathaniel: talk to Martin Nathaniel: info systems proposal Carmel: come up with a specific list of ingredients Hadas: come up with proposal for late night food bar

Minutes Food o Everyone is welcome to the weekly meeting with Martin o What is good and what is not good? o Committee of 12 I-house residents reviewing the menu  How do we recruit people? • Put up signs? • Constructive feed back that will help Debate Club o Brighton and Zofia coming for dinner o Booked the room for next Tue o Is there genuine interest?  Yes, but there needs more effort o Marketing- advertising committee o Topic: The Israeli Palestinian Conflict Is the Greatest Threat to World Security o Amit possible debater o Put it off another week b/c of marketing? o Message group on facebook, organized, o Ask Fredrick about website o Have an initial meeting on Tue, invite people  Announce at the pizza o Sam and Luke: create facebook o Julie: email Brighton to come on Tue o Tue at 8 pm in the Home Room o Catered? Contact Greg in catering o

Changing the date of meeting? Making a day of the week mandatory? Having people make their schedules around the meeting. Reducing the quorum to six or one over 50% of council? Make an amendment? If you don’t come forfeit your vote? Make it more versatile… 12 too many people? Online forum and voting? Agenda in advance and discussion during the week, vote at the meeting. Sam: getting council together gather opinions as to whether we go online or not? Sam: figure out voting (people present or all council members?) Hire just one person to do it o New ways to advertise o Can the Program Office advertise for the first debate o If it is an event the Council puts on, we must advertise o Volunteers do not have time o What are the problems?  People might not be as enthusiastic or too busy  Depends on council each year  Facebook: not all the residents are on it  Increase access Nathaniel: talk to Martin Program liaison and security position- help us with advertising Program liaison, what does this person do? o Make sure that they know they are supposed to be there. Screen like in the café, LCD to advertise o Nathaniel: info systems proposal

Facebook: o Voice opinions, discussion, events, publicizing, reminders o Not everyone is on facebook, but it’s a good start o Careful on the use of it, will it be too much or too annoying o Time consuming? o Put all the info on the group

o Make the title something where people will want to look and know what it happening o “I-House Council Events and Info” o People commenting back, have a discussion section Board members o Coming to mingle and tell their success stories o Small groups of 10-20 Carmel o Food o Changes that can help o Different bars ex: sandwich bar, well stocked o Sponsored by council and see how residents react o Good way to test for a month o So that you can know what is in everything as opposed to dinner now where things are all mixed together o Whole grain bread o Carmel: come up with a specific list of ingredients o Allocate the rest of the budget money to food o Dinning committee, things were already discussed o Ex: whole grain bread, organic lettuce, better fish and chicken o Suggest that Carmel come up with a proposal o A good investment for council to sponsor the food bar and make the change quicker o Council should not pay for food? o During finals, late night sandwich bar? o Through dining, catering or council getting food o Hadas: come up with proposal for late night food bar Fall Ball o Tickets and Set up o People thought that tickets were sold out o Everything is ok o Tickets only during dinner o Numbers allocated to guest and resident tickets o Some residents had to buy tickets b/c tickets ran out o Future: allocate up to 50 tickets for guests Communication between Departments and Council o Disparaging emails o From departments towards Council o Not doing their job towards the Debate Club
