Activities The following set of activities can be implemented in the order suggested or in other order, at your convenience. What matters is to complete all of them before the week ends.

Part 1. Weekly meta-reflection (25 points) A meta-reflection is an illation of ideas that threads prior reflections. In ICTE this exercise implies to review lessons learned by all participants from last week activities and to generate new ideas as educators who want to develop experiencebased knowledge.

1.1 Collecting gems from Week 2 lessons learned Use the

button to find and press the

. You can review prior postings in several ways, these are two very useful: 1. If you want to see what was posted per day, use Calendar hyperlinks to have access to interventions posted on specific dates. Second week of the ICTE course started on September 23, will end September 29, 2009. 2. Use FILTERS to select authors (all, one by one). Read each of the postings from week 1, copy and paste to your text processor those ideas that call your attention. At the end of the review process you’ll have a collection of gems that will help in your meta-reflection.

If you are not the first contributor, read what others have said, edit what can be necessary with the idea of adding value to this collective creation. Include new thoughts, thread old postings, bring new opportunities or challenges in regard to ICTEs studied.

Include icons, pictures, links, use colors or indentations, to promote good form. Use the TIPCS rubric to self-assess quality of this collaborative creation.

Part 2. Exploring an ICTE of your interest (20 points) 2.1 Choose an ICTE to explore on week 3, individually or in group This week you have two alternative ICTEs to explore. See which one is of your interest.

Option 1: Explore an ICTE of your interest Review your exploration plan posted in  Exhibition blog, first week posting. If you have not decided what ICTEs to explore through the course, please do it right away; press to investigate ICTEs in each of the five categories and post or edit your plan in the Exhibition blog.

Option 2: Explore with a friend an ICTE of mutual interest Press on the Who knows what spreadsheet link at the beginning of area to find out what ICTEs will be explored by your small group partners; talk with them, and make a choice. Part 3. Record and upload to Panopto a video lecture 3.1 Motivation and basic references The use of video lecture capture systems is expanding among academic institutions in parallel with the expansion of online and distance learning programs. Additionally, it can serve the purpose of providing access to class lectures for students who may need remediation, without using regular classroom time for that purpose. Video lecture capture may also useful in cases where students may have legitimate reasons for missing class and need access to what was covered. Most importantly, it can be a tool for allowing students to spend more time note-taking and reflecting on the salient points from the lecture. It provides them with another opportunity to grasp what was said. For further discussion on video lecture capture, please review, "Video lecture capturing" (read on page 39-40 ICTE, Galvis 2009). Use the following links to get acquainted with PANOPTO software and its use in different educational settings. Spend some time reviewing examples available at the Panopto showcase CourseCast overview

Understanding the system

Depending on your needs and interest, use one of the following links to learn about Elluminate, or both, for a complete induction. •

If you have not used Elluminate, it may be good to use the “participants” five minutes video orientation to get the flavor of the system. It is available at the following link, as well as a set of PDF documents:
