The Cold War Learning Assessment Due Date: Tuesday 9th September In groups of two or three you are to make a ‘banner’ showing the course of the Cold War. Your banner needs to have three sections. Section 1: •

Give a definition of ‘Cold War’.

Explain why it started.

Explain the ‘sides’ – include maps/pictures and photos. Section 2: • Explain at least 6 ‘events’ of the Cold War. •

Include pictures and/or maps.

Include photos of significant people.

Include a personal comment regarding the significance of the event.

Section 3: •

Why did the Cold War end?

What were the costs of the Cold War, both human and material?

What are the lasting ramifications of the Cold War?

What are the lessons of the Cold War?

You will be assessed on the depth and detail of your factual content and of your ability to express and support your opinions. To achieve higher grades you need to develop thoughtful and detailed answers.

I look forward to seeing the ‘final banners’.
