November 23, 2006 HOM 203 CHI Characterictness: 0-5 Hierarchy: -0: local/physical (my knee feels like this, there is an eruption on my neck) -1: physical general (I feel hot, I am tired) -2: mental, emotional, spiritual symptom, etiological (head pain from cutting hair) Intensity: How do we know something is intense? -frequency -how it interferes with life or limits them (how much they notice it) -give you information spontaneously -0: common and unclear  runny nose, once in a while -1: slightly intense, slightly clear and occasional  runny nose before my period but not every month -2: moderately intense, clear and frequent  runny nose almost every period for the first couple of days -3: very intense, highest  runny nose EVERY PMS and lasts until bleeding starts -4: extraordinary intensity  whenever I get my period, I have to get a discharge, starts and ends with my period Hierarchy: Chapters in book Head to Extremities  local/physica (unless in etiology)l Mind, dreams  mind, mental/emotional Sleep, Perspiration, Generals, Skin, Fever, Chilliness, Vertigo  physical general -increased appetite  0 (in stomach) -hunger  0 (in stomach) -food cravings  1 (generals) -nausea  0 (stomach) -menses  0 -pregnancy 0 -restless legs at night… worse anxiety, 0 …from physical pain, 0 (both in extremities) -epistaxis 0 -sexual impotence 0 -goiter 0 -speech 2 or 0  look at what’s the imbegriffe to determine the hierarchy -voice 0 -leucorrhea 0
