Day 23 (Wed 17 May) continued Then on to school, Lycee la Salésienne. We are greeted by the principal in just the same way I’m sure Marti Bass did at Del Norte, with champagne and hors d’ouvres. We have lunch in the cafeteria, again, I’m sure, just like at Del Norte. Our food is prepared by students in a culinary arts class.
During our tour of the school, we pop in on a class and they all stand as we enter the room. There are introductions and then the students are invited to ask questions. Most are interested in Henrietta’s work, CSI being a popular show over here as well.
Next on our list is a tour of the Mine Museum, St. Etienne having been a major coal mining center and therefore major manufacturing center. The trip includes an elevator ride down to mining tunnels. We have dinner with our host families. After dinner, Phillipe teaches me how to play Snooker, and daughter Charlotte takes a break from studying for exams and we have a little jam session as well.
