Indeed, inconsistency proves to be the only consistent thing in this world. And that fickle-minded man only manifests how irresolute life can be. He is very determined in one moment and becomes insecure later; predictably unpredictable. How decided Pres. Gloria Arroyo was when she publicly declared she would not run for presidency in the 2004 Presidential Election. But as the election approaches, a hundred-eighty-degree shift of her previous decision agitated the consciousness of Filipinos worldwide. And what did the sovereign Filipino people get? A leadership stained with an array of inexcusable maneuverings and self-serving interests. Recently, Sen. Mar Roxas stepped down from becoming Liberal Party’s presidential standard bearer in the upcoming 2010 Presidential Election to give way to Sen. Noynoy Aquino’s hope of upholding the legacy left by his parents, the late Sen. Ninoy Aquino and Pres. Cory Aquino. His act might be viewed noble. But one thing is certain; there was inconsistency in his intention to selflessly serve the less fortunate Filipinos, as his infamous battle cry Lalaban Tayo! tries to assert. In the local scene, CIT has been really working hard to achieve the highly coveted university status. The school administration made sure that all standard guidelines for universityhood have been satisfactorily met. All started well. But as the days got old, so did weaken the effort to bring about feasible improvements in every aspect of the school. For one, the proposed CpE faculty office has been under construction for a month now, yet it is way far from what a faculty office should look and feel like. To earn trust is to be consistent. To be consistent is to be strong-willed to stand on what has been said, set, and started. The Press is encouraging everyone to speak out and be heard. That Simple Rule

Spear Me

BY RICHIE ROY U. JAYME

By kRYSMAE S. CASANO

Have you ever tried to accomplish simple things but got frustrated because you couldn’t? Have you ever experienced the guilt of failing to abide by simple rules? Well, maybe you have or have not. The point is, many people tend to neglect and disregard the importance of simple rules. Several concrete examples can be seen on the streets, and even in the domain of our own institution, in which such lack of discipline exists. Take for example the endless number of students sitting on steps with “No Sitting on Steps” signs. I’m sure they are equipped with an armory of excuses such as, “Tabonan ta ning sign para kung naay mamadlong, ato ingnon nga wala ta kakita.” While sitting, these students seem not to bother about the trouble they’re causing, like delaying students who are in a hurry going to their next classes. Accidents may even occur at worst.

It is not actually a matter of life and death. It is just a matter of selfdiscipline and ethical values. It is a matter of knowing and doing what is right and avoiding what is wrong, a matter of abiding by rules governed by self-chosen principles of morality. It is not about what gives joy and ease to oneself, but what is good and beneficial to many. Let this not be a condemnation to those who are guilty of such, but instead, let this be a wake-up call to rise up to arms against negligence and irresponsibility, a call towards the development of self-discipline and moral judgment. Let us awaken the gentle spark within us that lies in deep slumber in the uncharted areas of our personality. Let us show that we are mature enough to distinguish right from wrong. Let us show that we are indeed proud Technologians, armed with respect even for the simplest rules in our community.

Sounds Familiar BY LEE ANTHONY C. SABALA The recent Colors Day, was the most boring Colors Days I’ve had. I don’t know if I was the only one who noticed it, but I think Shakey’s kind of noticed it, too. I really thought the booth festival was a contest. Was it? Benjie could have done it better and could have done away with the 5:00 PM closing time. I guess my classmate was Mr. Campus Personality then. I have been to five Colors Day celebrations and by far as my instructors will be good to me, I will not have my index card signed again. “Are the students still buying shirts for points?” my alumnus cousin asked. “Do the coaches still get their uniform after the celebration?” he added. Then, I answered with a sigh, “I guess so.”

Should we start pointing fingers at people? Why not! How else are we going to improve the next time if we don’t correct the mistakes of today? Let’s just not be passive about it and cross our fingers again. I’m sure none of us is going to admit that we have done something wrong. And for sure, we will just say that we have done our best. I think the colors are starting to fade. If you’ll say it is a collective effort, then we should all blame ourselves. Myself? For not participating any sports event albeit being present from the first day to the last. The Admin? But I’m not going to bite the hand that feeds me. The Supreme Student Government? I’ll say, “Why are we going to blame them again?” You tell me. Man! I miss PACT.

W hat do you think was the highlight of this year ’s Colors Day? W hy? “The Techno Pop and Dance Idol were quite nice. There were glitches and technical problems. They should have done their dry-run… ” - Angelique Solis, BSPsych-4 “I find the JAPANime entertaining and awesome! It was a success. It just means the Technologians are anime lovers. CONGRATULATIONS! PALAKPAKAN!” - Joy Tuico, BSPsych-4 “The Technologian Pop and Dance Idols was the highlight because talents were there in spite of the technical problems. God bless SSG!” - Ronnell Padillo, BSIT-2 “JAPANime because it is new and it is entertaining.” - Cherry Julienne Vasanta, BSIT-2 “Search for Miss Intramurals because it is prestigious and it really entertained us.” - Analyn Sarte, BSCS-4 “Sports Events. It showed the talents of students in sports.” - Ma. Fe Ligam, BSECE-1 “No highlight… activities are monotonous, not exciting, and boring. Ibalik ang Cheer dance!” - Graham John A. Jabonen, BSIE-5 “The highlight was during the first day of the Colors day since majority of the students are present during the opening and at the same time, the students were able to gather during the battle of the band.” - Lou Daphne Kimberlyn, BSIE-5
