GATT and Equality By Anthony J. Fejfar, B.A., J.D., Esq., Coif © Copyright 2009 by Anthony J. Fejfar The General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade states that there can be no restraints on trade in a Service Industry. Previously, I have asserted that an employer must pay high GATT wages in order to avoid a restraint on trade in a Service Industry. Thus, if a Latvian dishwasher comes to the United States, he is entitled to a GATT wage of not less than $50 per hour. It should also be noted that GATT bars a restraint on trade in a Service Industry, generally, so that in the United States, American Citizens are entitled to GATT wages as much as Latvians. The Principle of Reciprocity also requires this. Since an American dishwasher in Latvia is entitled to at least $50 per hour, so too, reciprocally will an American dishwasher in the United States be entitled to at least $50 per hour.
