The Uruguay round was a conference held to debate topics hoping to expand the competence of the GATT to important new areas such as services, capital, intellectual property, textiles, and agriculture. The Uruguay round led to the creation of WTO. 4. The current director is Pascal Lamy. 5. China is a member of the WTO as of 2001. 6. Hong Kong is also a member of the WTO as of 1995.
