FEDERATION OF STUDENT ISLAMIC SOCIETIES IRELAND CHAPTER COMMITTEE JOB DESCRIPTION Ireland Chair The role of the chair is to manage the regional committee and to represent the region to the executive committee • • • • • • •
Shall be the head and the spokesperson of FOSIS Ireland. Shall develop and oversee the strategic plan and annual delivery plans that work toward the FOSIS Ireland vision. Shall oversee and support members of FOSIS Ireland Committee. Shall oversee and support members of FOSIS Advisory Board. Shall attend relevant external meeting where FOSIS Ireland is represented or shall appoint someone to deputise for him/her in his/her absence. Shall be the Ex-officio member of the subsequent Executive Committee. Shall ensure that the constitution is adhered to as well as additional agreed upon guidelines and policies (such as those outlined in the FOSIS handbook).
Vice-chair for Brother The role of the brother’s vice-chair is to build rapport and assist event managers • • • •
Shall deputise for the Chair in his/her absence. Shall oversee and support the FOSIS Alumni & History project. Shall develop mechanisms to increase awareness about FOSIS. Shall oversee and support event managers in organising events (namely Speaker’s Tour) and other activities.
Vice-chair for Sister The role of the sister’s vice-chair is to support, represent and strengthen Muslim sisters in the region •
Shall deputise for the Chair in his/her absence.

Shall oversee, support, and develop ways to increase sisters’ involvement in the region. Shall promote and coordinate personal development programs. Shall oversee and develop recruitment, induction and training for FOSIS Ireland.
Finance Officer The role of the Finance Officer is to manage FOSIS Ireland finance and organise sponsorship drive • • • • • • • •
Shall maintain a record of all financial transactions of the committee. Shall manage the council budget and expenses. Shall pay all expenses incurred by FOSIS Ireland out of its fund. Shall become a signatory on the FOSIS Ireland accounts within 6 weeks of election. Shall coordinate fund-raising and sponsorship to improve current financial situation. Shall develop and oversee mechanism to maintain long-term finance. Shall submit a report of the accounts of FOSIS Ireland at least once per academic term, or when requested by The Committee. Shall work with Head of Finance to keep accurate records and accounts of FOSIS Ireland income, expenditure and assets.
Communication Officer The role of the Communication Officer is to maintain effective communication between National Committees, Regional Committees, and Islamic Societies. • • • • • •
Shall keep records of the constitution, amendments to the constitution, motions as well as additional agreed upon guidelines and policies (such as those outlined in the FOSIS handbook). Shall oversee the coordination and compilation of material read externally such as enewsletters, updates, blogs, and council and annual reports. Shall oversee the coordination and compilation of the material read internally such as annual calendar, planning documents and strategic documents, budgets, meeting minutes and handover documents. Shall work with the relevant members and office manager to keep the FOSIS Ireland website updated, to maintain an up-to-date list of Team FOSIS contact details and to maintain FOSIS Ireland emails and e-groups. Shall work with relevant people to organise National Council meetings, and elections. Shall deal with all correspondence of the Federation unless otherwise decided by the FOSIS Ireland Committee.
Islamic Societies Coordinating Committee Officer The role of the Islamic Societies Coordinating Committee is to develop and strengthen student Islamic Societies thru consultation, training and events management • • • •
Shall aim to strengthen and support student Islamic societies. Shall work with National Islamic Societies Coordinating Committee and Regional Islamic Societies Committees. Shall identify the needs of Muslim students and Islamic societies and fulfill those needs through appropriate channels. Shall create positive links between societies and regional committees and highlight examples of good practice.
Student Affairs Committee Officer The role of the Student Affairs Committee is to support, develop and strengthen student Islamic Societies to represent and serve Muslim students inside and outside campus.

Shall be principal lead in discussion with the rest of the executive, on issues relating to government and politics. Shall work with the Student Affairs Committee. Shall represent FOSIS at USI and at Student Union level. Shall attend meetings with relevant Muslim organisations. Shall help and consult Islamic Societies in diplomatic issues with their student service.
Campaigns Officer • • • •
Shall support and work with the FOSIS National Campaigns Committee. Shall form a regional campaigns committee to coordinate activities in Ireland. Shall represent the views and issues of the committee at NEC level. Provide a direction to committee and be able to provide up-to-date information to NEC when required. Work with the Vice Chair for Sister to recruit members onto the various campaigns and support them with relevant documents.
