Frankfurt defeat the Hibees with Tsoumou adding the third. Hibernian will be wondering what could have been if they had taken their chance in Germany. M.O.T.M – Inamoto Attendance - 40728

Speaking to the official Hibs website after the Frankfurt game Macnab told of his disappointment in the result. “I’m frustrated that we didn’t take our chances in the game. Had we have taken them it could have been a different outcome but take nothing away from Frankfurt, they are an excellent side. My boys will hopefully learn from this experience in Europe and we hopefully come back strong next year”

Monday 6th September

Hibernian have made four changes to the side which lost in Germany with James Brown, Daniel Galbraith, Zemmama and Materazzi all starting.

Zemmama then rounded off their victory on 62 minutes with a stunning freekick from the edge of the area. Hibs were then denied a second claim for a penalty but again the referee said no. Saturday 11th September

Scotland today defeated Azerbaijan 2-0 in Baku. Both Scotland’s goals came in the first half with James McFadden getting them both.

Wednesday 15th September

Scotland made it two wins in a row as they beat Kazakhstan 2-0.With goals from Paul Hartley and Scott Brown the Scotland team send the 60,000 strong tartan army away happy.

Saturday 18th September

St. Johnstone 1 – 1 Hibernian Hibernian came close to suffering an unexpected defeat at the hands of St. Johnstone today. Lewis Young gave the saints the lead with a placed shot from close range in the 28th minute. Substitute Damon Gray rescued a point for Hibernian in the 70th minute with a powerful effort.

St. Mirren 0 – 2 Celtic Aberdeen 4 – 0 Morton Inverness CT 2 – 1 Falkirk

Hibernian manager will be pleased with the news that striker Derek Riordan has returned to full training. Riordan has been out for 3 weeks with a foot injury. Monday 20th September

Saturday 25th September

Hibernian 3 – 1 St. Mirren Hibernian striker Derek Riordan was recalled to the side after being out with injury and turns the game around. St. Mirren midfielder Stephen McGinn gave them the lead with a curling shot from the edge of the area in the 13th minute. Into the second have and Riordan equalized for Hibernian in the 50th minute with a long range freekick which went in off the post. He then made it two in the 79 minute before scoring his hat-trick with another trademark freekick.

Manager Jamie Macnab was said to be delighted with the performance of Derek Riordan and was pleased to hear both he and Materazzi were named in the team of the week. Hibernian moved up to 3rd in the table following that victory but now face the Saints again in the League Cup. Wednesday 29th September

Hibernian 4 – 0 St. Mirren Hibernian pulled off a 4-0 win over St. Mirren at Easter Road tonight. Midfielder McCarthy game Hibs the lead with a defected shot in the 16th minute. An error from St. Mirren allowed Brown to score a well placed shot to make it 2-0 to Hibernian. Zemmama then scored with a freekick

to make it 3-0 before half time. Derek Riordan was take off at half time with an injury scare but his replacement Garry O’Connor completed the rout with a screamer from outside the box on the 90th minute.
