5th August

EURO CUP 3rd Qual. Rnd Leg 2

LASK 1 – 2 Hibernian Hibernian produced a solid performance to beat LASK Linz at Linzer Gugl. Player Michael Danninger got LASK off to a flyer be scoring a fine header from point –blank range on 5 minutes. Striker Derek Riordan then managed to pull one back for Hibernian after 52 minutes with an audacious lob from the edge of the area. Full back Kevin McCann then clinched a late winner Hibs on 83 minutes with a screamer from the edge of the area. Hibernian therefore win 3-2 on aggregate. Garry O’Connor will miss the start of the season after sustaining a thigh strain after a miskick in the LASK game.

O’Connor is likely to be out for up to 12 days.

Hibernian News

Great news for Hibs fans as both Rob Jones and Derek Riordan both sign new deals. Rob Jones has signed contract that will keep him at the club until 30th June 2012. Derek Riordan put pen to paper on a new 4 year contract.

12th August

EURO Cup 4th Qual. Rnd Draw Today Hibs were one of 4 Scottish teams in the draw today. The draw was as follows – Hibernian v Frankfurt Hearts v Ajax Aberdeen v Valerenga CSKA (Sofia) v Inverness CT

Transfer News

Hibs today had a bid for their former left back David Murphy accepted. The bid is believed to be in the region of £1.2m and to include Chris Killen in the deal. Hibs to have competition for the signature of Murphy as Wigan, Sporting CP have both had bids accepted.

14th August

Hibernian manager Jamie Macnab will celebrate his 100th game in charge when his team plays Celtic in the Premier League on Sunday

Celtic manager Gordon Strachan has told Jamie Macnab in the build-up to their Premier League clash on Sunday that he truly hopes the best team wins. Strachan commented that Macnab was a good manager and deserved every success with Hibernian.

The Hibernian Official website has announced the final sales figures for season tickets. The ticket office has confirmed that the club has sold 11906 season tickets for this season.

Hibernian 0 – 1 Celtic Despite battling hard Hibernian were unable to prevent a superior Celtic side coming away from Easter Road Stadium with a 1-0 victory. Striker Robert Lewandowski gave Celtic the lead with a fine header in the box in the 11th minute. With Hibernian staring at defeat, there was controversy as commanding centre-back Marco Materazzi then had a penalty shout turned down. M.O.T.M – Scott Brown Attendance – 17375

Hibernian 2 – 2 Frankfurt

Hibernian could count themselves somewhat fortunate to have escaped with a draw against Frankfurt tonight at Easter Road Stadium. Things did not get off to a good start for Frankfurt as striker Damon Gray seized on an error by Christoph Spycher to score a placed shot. Experienced midfielder Inamoto then managed to pull one back for Frankfurt after 12 minutes with a close range header. Frankfurt captain Amanatidis then put the away side in front after 47 minutes with a real poacher’s effort. With Frankfurt already beginning to celebrate, striker Gray scored in injury-time to snatch the equalizer for Hibernian. M.O.T.M – Damon Gray Attendance – 15035

Speaking to the Sunday Mail, Falkirk boss John Hughes admitted he was in awe of Hibernian Striker Damon Gray.

Hughes enthused that he just loved watching Gray play and encouraged any youngster who wants to make it in the game to learn from his performance.

Interest in Gray is thought to be high, with Leicester, Scunthorpe and Falkirk among the clubs rumoured to be looking at the player.

Wigan today won the race for the signature for Birmingham’s left back David Murphy for £1.7m. Murphy rejected offers from Sporting Clube de Portugal, Middlesbrough and former club Hibernian.

Falkirk 2 - 1 Hibernian Falkirk’s fans left The Falkirk Stadium wondering quite how their team only managed to win 2 – 1. The first incident of note was on 31 minutes as Hibernian were denied claims by Marco Materazzi for a penalty. An error from James Brown then allowed midfielder Sean Lynch to score a real poacher’s effort. James Perch then doubled Falkirk’s lead with a fine header from close range on 53 minutes.

Monday 23rd August

Rob Jones told the evening news today how tempers flared in the dressing room at the Falkirk Stadium following Hibs 2-1 defeat to Falkirk. He revealed the manager Jamie Macnab was extremely unhappy with his sides performance and did not hold back in telling them.

Tuesday 24th August

Sky Sports News understands that Hibernian manager Jamie Macnab is believed to be looking at Motherwell’s young full back Craig Barratt. Barratt, 18 , arrived at Fir Park from Doncaster in 2009.

Wolves official website side today confirmed that they have had an offer of £110,000 for Hibernian midfielder accepted.

Hibernian today have accepted another bid for Midfielder Dean Shiels.Preston North End are believed to have made the bid.

Saturday 28th August

Morton 2 - 3 Hibernian Hibernian showed their superiority in a 3-2 victory over Morton today at Cappielow but they could have scored a lot more. Erik Paartalu gave Morton the lead in the 25th minute but Hibernian equalized through Garry O’Connor after he seized on a mistake from the Morton defense with a close range finish. O’Connor the equalized again for Hibernian in the 49th minute before James McCarthy sealed the win for Hibs with a curling shot in the 80th minute. M.O.T.M – Garry O’Connor

Wolves have completed the signing of 25 year old Dean Shiels from Hibernian for a fee of £110,000.
