Economics of Public Choice (FINAC) Instructions for research paper writing •

According to curriculum, students must individually write a research paper on the topic selected from the list.



Only one student can do research on each topic. Students should select their topics in the first meeting, which is on March 3rd.



Prior to doing research, the student should develop the thesis statement, which should be approximately ½ of page in length, basically denoting the purposes of the paper and what points (i.e. hypotheses) will be made and tested in the paper. This statement should be submitted to the lecturer at the latest in the last meeting, which is on the March 6th.



The research should be basically focused on case study analysis, meaning that the theoretical aspects of the topic should be kept to a minimum. Following, students are encouraged to use holistic approach to research. Nonetheless, students can perform either exploratory or explanatory study.



The research paper should be submitted electronically via e-mail as MS Word attachment on the following e-mail accounts: [email protected] and [email protected]. Deadline: 20th March 2008. Successfully completed and evaluated paper is the prerequisite for student to accede to the written exam.



Basic instructions for style sheet of the paper: o Length: 10-15 pages; o Paper A4 portrait, margins 2.5 cm, font Arial, single spacing should be used, size of the body text 12 points, footnotes 10 points, headlines 12 points bold; o Harvard referencing style should be used in text and at least 5 units of literature should be cited in the paper;
