Fartlek Training 

Definition​(Nut): ● Fartlek is different from Fart Leg(lel xddd). ○ Fartlek is a swedish term that mean, “speedy play” ● Fartlek is a form of speed training. ○ Fartlek running is when you run switching between 2 or more speed in an interval during your run. ○ So Fartlek training is when you switch between 2 or more types of training with no rest Components of fitness developed​ (Pooh) Fartlek (speed play) training develops a range of components and is used by games players ● A continuous form of training. ● Changes in speed, incline and terrain are used to provide changes in exercise intensity. ● Aerobic​ and ​anaerobic​ work can be done in the quantities that suit the performer. ● Disadvantage - some urban areas have little variety of incline and terrain.

Examples of the methods​(Preaw):

Give me five: From zero to five minutes, run at a comfortable, normal pace. At the five-minute mark, increase your speed for one minute. Drop back to normal speed until the 10-minute mark. Do this on the 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, etc. Long Distance Events (10k, 5k, 3k, Cycling) ● Warm up with a steady jog for 10 minutes ● Run hard, above race pace for 4-5 minutes ● Jog slowly for 1 minute ● Repeat 6-8 times ● Cool down at a steady pace for 10 minutes

Fartlek training method trains cardio muscular system. Which means it will improve your endurance. It may be used for runners that require endurance; such as, marathon runner, football player, etc. Which sports or athletes would use this method (​Belle)

Athletes that uses this method are mostly runners. This training method allows athletes to prepare themselves to run at different intensity levels over any distances that they want.
