Faith and Religion: Some pertinent questions: What is religion? Why do we need it? Or do we need it at all, bearing in mind the facts that over centuries so much of violence, killing of innocents, massacres, wars, oppression, injustice, genocide and terrorist acts have been and still being committed simply in the name of Religion? What’s religion for? Who is it for? Is it for our own inner self and inner peace and happiness or for imposition (of set beliefs) on masses by hook or crook? What use it is if it does not value and respect other human fellows, or discriminates between people of different sex, faiths, sects, creeds etc. or have no respect at all for human life? Why religious intolerance? Why religious imperialistic ambitions? Why religions lack humanity? Without humanity, is it not pseudo-religionism or fanaticism or even extremism in disguise? Religion is a religion, how one religion could be superior to other? How could a religion expect recognition itself if the same religion denies identical reciprocal recognition and respect to other religions or faiths? Is any religion worthy of calling itself religion if it does not embrace other religions? Why not all religions live and let live in harmony like different members of a one big family. How can we justify so much of antagonism, intolerance, hatred, enmity, extremism, violence, killings terrorism etc. against fellow humans, particularly in the name if religion? Surely, this can’t be religious. Should religion not be peaceful, caring loving, comforting, tolerant, embracing and respectful to all human fellows irrespective of their personal beliefs, faith, creed, culture, etc?
Should we all not be tying to be and living as human before trying to belong to any Faith or Religion? Can we not put Humanity first before any Religion?
