TASK 3 – EVALUATION AND ANALYSIS OF COMIC STRIP •A4, DOUBLE LINE SPACED •500 WORDS MINIMUM •DUE PRINTED AT THE BEGINNING OF THE FIRST LESSON AFTER HALF TERM

0. Key Terms Turn to the back page of your brief and complete your key terms sheet. All words should be defined and everyone should have the same definitions.

1.Clear understanding of the task Look at the first page of your brief. Which key concepts did your project focus on? How did it explore them? What was the process you went through (list all stages)? Make notes on the back of your sheet.

2.Discussion of title and plot of your comic book and another real example

What categories could you place audiences into? What is the difference between compare & contrast? Make notes on the back of your sheet.

3.Understanding of narrative – Discussion of how your comic strip makes use of Todorov’s narrative theory As a class: What are the five stages of Todorov’s narrative theory? P – Identify Narrative Stage E – Give a very clear example from your comic (e.g. Frame 6 is…) E – Explain how that frame represents that stage of the narrative. Make notes on the back of your sheet.

4.Understanding of representation – Discussion of key characters in comic strip and their role in the story What is meant by the term protagonist? What is meant by the term antagonist? What real examples of characters could yours be compared with? Why do your characters appeal to your audience? P – Identify character type E – Give a very clear example from your comic (e.g. item of costume or action) E – Explain how that example shows their character type Make notes on the back of your sheet.

5. Evaluate your own contribution to the production process Pre-Production – Research & Planning Production – creating your own, original material Post-Production – Adding to, editing and assembling your media production What did we do at each stage? What technology did we use in this project? Make notes on the back of your sheet.

6. Evaluate how well your work met the brief
