Eurolinks Diary & evaluation
Multilateral Comenius school project Lenka I did lots of preparations before the last meeting in Crnomelj. We discussed the best way of travelling there and I arranged the bus. I´ve taught a CLIL lesson in Marta´s class, which was very challenging and exciting for me. I ´m sure the students learned some Czech expressions and words- I could hear them passing by the students in the school corridor the next day We´ve done everything we planned. We´ve gone for a one-day trip to Postojna cave, which was a marvelous experience, to the seaside, a small town Piran, where we could see the Italian coast with snowy peaks of the Alps .We´ve been to Ljubljana as well. I´ve learnt some new Slovinian words and expressions.I´ve learnt the Slovinians are very friendly, open-minded, hospitable and they prefer living with their families together instead of being on their own. Unfortunately, the project is going to finish and we´ve learnt it was the best project we had ever had. I was good at communication, at working in our team, at preparing the CLIL lesson. I appreciate our Slovenian partners , their perfect organization, the team they had built for our last meeting and, of course, their hospitability and care. I want to ask if we meet somewhere in the future and if all members want to do they promised while saying goodbye I´ll improve all my skills needed to be a good teacher ( nobody is perfect ) I´ll improve my self-evaluation and positive attitude to me and my students.:-) I´ll think about my job and about my future students, how to make them participate in some events/ activities in English. Linda I have travelled by train through an amazingly beautiful Europe. Austria’s and Slovenia’s nature was breathtaking. I learned more about Slovenia, a country I didn’t knew much about. I appreciated everything our hosts had planned and arranged for us. The workshops were nice, the dinners pleasant, the journeys to the cave, Piran and Ljubljana were excellent. I want to thank all the teachers participating from all countries whom made this project, Eurolinks to something very special. Svata I’ve done a lot of pleasant and lovely things in Slovenia where I enjoyed the time much. I would say it is really a wonderful country with all the hills, mountains the sea and its hospitable and willing inhabitants. I have seen my students from another point of view and I know again I can rely on them. I’ve learned that international cooperation is, after you get to know one another, not only stressful and tiring but above all exciting, amusing and, in a way,

relaxing (forget about the journeys) experience. It is a good opportunity to learn about new countries, people and lifestyles as well as your own surrounding and students. I appreciate, after the Slovenian meeting itself, the easy atmosphere there, the warm welcoming you could feel and the endless hospitality of Alexandra, Marta, Darja, Miro and everyone involved. Everything went so smoothly and without troubles. After the meeting as the last in all four, I appreciate that I could take part in the project and that I could get together with new friends. I must also thank Guy for great cooperating and supervising. I had no problems – or at least I cannot remember any after 3 weeks, so if there were some, they were definitely not important and easily forgettable. I will improve everything I can, as there is always something to improve – I promise. Guy I organised the trip from Merksem to Črnomelj (bus route, stops at Salzburg and Bled), prepared the students for the trip (paperwork, finances, contacts) and lobbied for teachers to join the project meeting. I learnt that Slovenia and Bela Krajina is a very attractive area to live although it can be very rainy indeed. I learnt before this meeting that young people in the EU have a great interest in cooperation. It was the same at this meeting. EU really links up ;-) I was good at teaching the CLIL lesson. I had problems with the incompatibility of hardware and software in the film workshop. Unfortunately the film wasn’t ready for the presentation. Nevertheless the boys on the team worked a lot and they took care of the website and the project meeting site. I will keep in mind that “simple” project tasks (dancing, baking, painting) can be as effective as ICT related teamwork. I appreciated the way the hosts organised the final project meeting of Eurolinks. I enjoyed the well-balanced mix of cooperation in workshops, visits, leisure time activities and dissemination towards the school, local community and the press. In fact all the partners have done a great job at their respective project meetings. I appreciated that every partner joined the CLIL idea. I want to ask the host families, the hosting students and teachers if the attitude of the students from Merksem was OK. Most host families went to great lengths to please the visitors. I hope the young visitors showed their respect and appreciation. I will improve my dancing at final parties. Kathleen I’ve done a mind-broadening excursion with two very nice colleagues and twenty-one youngsters to Slovenia! I’ve learnt that there’s no such thing as “a school”. The way of organizing lessons and the school rules can very different. Other ways of doing things can work evenly well. I was good at teaching the Slovenian students at my CLIL lesson about cryptography, they seemed very interested. I had problems with the rather slow and relaxed pace from time to time. I appreciated the effort our Slovenian colleagues put into organizing workshops, transport etc. I also appreciated the open- minded conversations we had and the lovely time together.

I want to ask Guy that if he ever needs help with an international project either in Merksem or abroad to keep me in mind. I will improve my social networking skills. Anders I’ve organized transportation to our last meeting of this project and taken part in our fantastic train journey through Europe. In Crnomelj I had a CLIL lesson which I enjoyed immensely. Also I believe the Slovenian students enjoyed it. I’ve learnt about Slovenia and the lovely eastern part, Bela Krajina and the villages Crnomelj and Metlika. An area I knew nothing about before but would like to return to. I appreciated the warm hospitality of all our host families, teachers and other people involved in the project. I enjoyed the program of our meeting, the workshops, the tour of Slovenia et cetera. A splendid program and I also think of the whole project as a very successful one with good meetings that I appreciate a lot. I want to ask all the partners to keep in touch and perhaps someday there will be a eurolinks 2 or other means of developing European awareness and cooperation. Until we meet again I will improve my diary writing.
