Español 18 Proyecto Final – junio 2009 La Señorita Webb
“In order to learn something well, you have to teach it.” For your final project in Spanish 18, you will become the Spanish teacher. Here are the steps. Please mark your planbook now: 1.
Choose someone you know to whom you would like to teach Spanish. This can be a parent, grandparent, a teacher, a sibling, etc. as long as he/she has not studied Spanish recently, and/ or doesn’t speak it. Make arrangements to teach this person. Due: lunes, 18 mayo 2009 – A Block; martes, 19 mayo – B Block
2. Choose a total of 30 words and/or phrases from three different units (Chapters 37). Create a word list for your “student.” Your list should be wellorganized and easy for your student to follow, and not contain errors. So, be sure to proofread carefully. (10 points). Due: lunes, 18 de mayo – A Block; martes, 19 de mayo B Block
3.
Create a lesson for your student: You should: • teach your student the words and/or phrases you chose • have your student practice using two different activities (30 points) • give your student a quiz! You are in charge of grading it (20 points)
You will be given class time (lunes, 18 de mayo, A Block; martes, 19 de mayo, B Block) to work on making your activities and your quiz. The written versions of your activities and quiz are due jueves, 21 de mayo. Please email your documents to me. I realize that B block doesn’t have class on Thursdays. But, to have a common due date works best.
4. You should teach your Spanish lesson and give your quiz to your “student” sometime between viernes, 22 de mayo, and jueves, 28 de mayo. After you have taught your lesson and given your quiz, you will write a reflection paper, in English, in which you answer each of the eight (8) questions below. Your reflection paper must be at least 500 words, and must be typed, doublespaced, and carefully proofed and edited, using 12 point type. Your reflection paper is due lunes, primero de junio – A Block; martes, 2 de junio B Block. (40 points). • Who was your learner? Why did you choose this person?
• How did you teach your learner? What did you do if he/she didn’t understand right away? • How did you know he/she was learning? • How did you know if he/she was ready to take the quiz? • If you could teach this learner again, what would you do differently? • How do you think your Spanish learning experience was different from your leaner’s? • How do you think your Spanish learning experience was the same as your learner’s? • Did you like being the Spanish teacher instead of the learner? Explain.
Basic Project Requirements: • All documents must be typed. • All documents – reflection paper, word list, two activities, and your “student’s” graded quiz are due lunes, primero de junio, A Block; martes, 2 de junio, B Block.
