Guidelines for Dialogue, Chapter 8 a. Students are to work in groups of 3: parent, child, doctor. b. There should be a fairly even distribution of lines. Sí and No don't constitute lines. c. The students should keep the dialogue in the present tense, and use vocabulary and grammar structures from Chapter 8. d. Students should also incorporate structures such as: necesitar + infinitive, tener que + infinitive, ir a + infinitive, and querer + infinitive. Of course, they may include other structures as appropriate. e. The dialogue should have a problem - what is the illness? - and a solution - going to the doctor, getting a diagnosis, and receiving a recommendation for getting better. f. Students have the remainder of the block to write their dialogue. If time remains, they should rehearse their dialogue. They should strive to memorize their lines. g. Students should incorporate props into their dialogue. Therefore, they should bring whatever they need for the next class. h. Each student should have a copy of his/her group's dialogue. Therefore, they should leave class with a copy, in order to memorize for the next class. i. Students will be assessed on: quality of script, and oral delivery of lines. The script will receive a group grade, and the oral delivery of lines an individual grade.
