Help Remove Invasive Plants in our Parks
Come to Summer Camp… Volunteers Needed!
Work up a sweat as we get rid of unwanted plant invaders. Gear up and head out to remove some of these intruders from the parkland. Work sessions include a warm-up with some basic plant identification and to learn why some plants are problematic. If you have your own garden gloves and tools, please bring them along. Some tools will be provided. Be sure to come dressed for work, wear long pants, long sleeves and perhaps a hat. A water bottle is also suggested. General information about our program is available at www.arlingtonva. us, search invasive. Other special events can also be scheduled for groups. For more information or to register for an event, call 703-228-7636.
If you are 13 or older, join hundreds of other energetic and committed Arlingtonians and have fun while contributing your talents to the community. Assist at general interest, special interest and therapeutic recreation camps. Volunteers take a leadership role in all the fun and exciting activities campers enjoy like field trips, arts and crafts, swimming, sing-alongs, games and much more! Whether you are seeking a personal or professional development opportunity or simply have a desire to work with young people, volunteering can be extremely rewarding. It is an opportunity to make friends, work with children in a supervised recreational setting and gain valuable experience in a leadership role. In order to become a paid Student Assistant in Arlington County camps, you must have been a volunteer with us for at least one summer. PRCR is not able to hire all of our volunteers, but we will not hire anyone in an entry-level position who has not been a volunteer. Please call 703-228-4730 for more information or go to www.arlingtonva.us/prcr.
