Program Title : Engineering Cultural Summer Camp 2019

PURPOSE
The purposes of this paperwork are to obtain the approval and to get the fund from any concerning party specifically from UiTM Selangor, Shah Alam Campus to conduct a program and to apply for financial support on the program expenditure for the Engineering Cultural Summer Camp 2019 (ECSC’19) that will be involving 30 international students and 10 crews from Faculty of Chemical Engineering.

Activity Summarization
The Engineering Cultural Summer Camp is a program that is organized by the Faculty of Chemical Engineering with the help of OIA Buddy. This program is a platform where the OIA will be able to introduce the uniqueness of Malaysia especially the various cultures in it to the international exchange student specifically who took engineering. Furthermore, this program are design to make sure that the good interaction between the UiTM students and the international students can be made. This program will be involving 30 international exchange students of UiTM and 10 program crews. This program will be held for 14 days from on 15th – 28th August 2019 which will be located at around Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Selangor.

Program Objectives
3.1 Carries the name of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in its own class with the active interaction with other universities as well as world class university. 3.2 To give the opportunities to the students of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) to have a broad and strong connection with other international students. 3.3 To produce a proactive, creative and idealistic students by joining and participating in volunteering activity with the society. 3.4 To introduce and promote the uniqueness of the various cultures in Malaysia to the outside countries. 3.5 To know and learn the cultures from the other countries as well as introducing the cultures in Malaysia itself.

Target group The program will be involving 30 international exchange students of UiTM and 10
students from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering Department as the program crew and five officers and staffs from the Office of International Affairs (OIA) UiTM Selangor.

5.0
Methods of Implementation
5.1 “Know Your Best Self” A short ice-breaking session that will be held at the beginning of the program. This is a session where participants will interact, playing some of Malaysia’s traditional games and form five groups of six. They will choose their group leader within their own discussion. To make sure that the group is divided fairly, each group member are picked fairly by the crew. 5.2 “ Get to Know Kuala Lumpur” This is the first destination of our program. It is an interesting tour which unfolds the beauty and charm of an old and new Kuala Lumpur. There, participants will visit the National Monument Kuala Lumpur where a 15m-high bronze statue is dedicated to the 11,000 people who died during the First World War, the struggle against the Japanese and the Malayan Emergency. Kuala Lumpur with a character of its own, is also known for its colorful cultures, races and traditions as participants will get the chance to visit the National Mosque and Dataran Merdeka Kuala Lumpur. Next,participants will get the chance to entre the Aquaria KLCC which it is an oceanarium that was located beneath Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre within KLCC and houses over 250 different species and over 5,000 land and aquatic animals from Malaysia and around the world. The participants will be amazed by the city as it is further furnished by its interesting architecture, prominent landmarks and unique buildings. 5.3 “A Day in Putrajaya” In this slot, participants will be able to experience the sights and sounds of Putrajaya, the seat of Malayian Government. There, they will see several of Putrajaya’s beautiful Islamic-inspired landmarks, including the Putra Mosque, the Prime Minister’s Office and the Palace of Justice. This tour will not be complete because the participant will cruise at Cruise Lake Putrajaya which is located in Putrajaya Water Sports Complex. There,they will soak up the magical atmosphere of Putrajaya; discover this enchanting garden city while cruising. This is where all the greens and modern architectural wonders intertwine seamlessly and form the largest landmark in Malaysia. Furthermore, the participants will get a closer look at the excellent local craftmanship as all of our cruise boats (traditional and modern) are proudly 100% designed and handcrafted in Malaysia, by Malaysians.

5.4 “A Moment With You” This slot will be held at the Old Folks Home, Shah Alam where participants will be able to connect with the middle-age citizens. There, a lot of activities will be held that will form a stronger connection between the youth of this generation and senior citizens. At the same time, participants will learn several values from this slot as they will learn the importance of responsibility in their life as well as their love towards a loved ones. 5.4 “Short Escape to Batu Caves” After hours of learning session, in this slot, participants will get the chance to visit the famous Batu Caves which is located outside the city centre which houses some of Kuala Lumpur’s best-known cultural attractions. At the site of a Hindu temple and shrine, Batu Caves attracts thousands of worshippers and tourists, especially during the annual Hindu festival, Thaipusam. Furthermore, a limestone outcrop located just north of Kuala Lumpur, Batu Caves has three main caves featuring temples and Hindu shrines. The participants wil see that the main attraction is the large statue of the Hindu God at the entrance, besides a steep 272 climb up its steps to finally view the stunning skyline of the city centre. There, particpants will get to see the paintings and scenes of Hindu Gods that can also be seen in the Ramayana Cave. 5.5 “Site Visit and Trip to Melaka City” After finishing the site visit, participants will get the chance to explore the city of Melaka (Malacca) as it is one of Malaysia's biggest draws. A hub of multi-cultural history and present-day cultural fusion, Melaka is an excellent place to sample the nation's diverse cultural offerings. There, the tour may begin in the heart of Old Town with its Portuguese, Dutch, Islamic and Chinese architecture. Afterwards, see the Cheng Hoon Teng Temple, where 3 major doctrines of Chinese belief worship under the same roof. Don't miss the fabled streets of Chinatown, or the Portuguese-influenced St. Paul's Church, reached by a breezy climb up Bukit St Paul. From the visit, participants will be able to explore the colorful streets of historic Melaka and also learn about the Malay sultanate, Melaka’s rise as an important trading port and the Portuguese and Dutch influence from the early 16th century.

5.6 “Building Moment at The National Botanical Garden Shah Alam” The National Botanical Garden Shah Alam is a national center of excellence within the fields of education, scientific research and conservation for the development of botanical, horticulture, agriculture and other various related fields. Students will have several group activities around the park and at the same time, they will explore many agricultural plants that were grown here. Paddy field can also be found there, as well as cocoa trees, oil palm, rubber trees, coffee, coconut and other fruit trees. 5.7 “Negeri Sembilan Awaits You” In this visit, the participants will get to know that Negeri Sembilan is a state comprises seven districts sitting on the western coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It is an interesting state with its diversified culture, history, beautiful sceneries, beaches and foods. Seremban is the capital city of Negeri Sembilan and the royal capital is Seri Menanti located in Kuala Pilah. Futhermore, participants will get to see the State Museum, Fort Kempas, Army Museum and etc. There, they will learn the visit to the Seri Menanti Royal Museum will definitely be a meaningful one as the Seri Menanti Royal Museum outlook as well as the interior designs was completely built with the concept of the Minangkabau traditional architecture. The most amazing part of the Seri Menanti Royal Museum is the fact that this museum is built without using a single nail or screw. This portrays the determination, creativity, and talent of the Malaysian in able to construct such a stable building which had been surviving for more than 100 years since 1902 (the date it was built). Visiting the museum will thus allow the participants to see with their own eyes the magnificent architecture of the museum as well as to understand more of the Malaysian royal tradition and culture in the museum itself.
