Mechanism of action
Stimulates motility of upper GI tract Increase lower esophageal sphincter tone & blocks dopamine receptors at the chemoreceptor trigger zone
Contradiction
Contraindicated in patient’s hypersensitivity to drug & in those with pheochromocytom a or seizure disorders. Contraindicated in patient’s whom stimulation of GI motility might be dangerous
Side effects
Nursing Responsibilities
Fever, Tell patient to avoid headache, activities that require dizziness alertness for 2 hours after dose. Stay with the patient while drinking the drug

Or 300mg daily at bedtime
Use cautiously in patients with hepatic dysfunction. Adjust dosage in patients with impaired renal function
Side effects
Dry mouth, headache, vomiting, nausea
