THINGS TO CONSIDER IN DANCING

WHY DO WE NEED TO KNOW THE MOVEMENTS IN DANCING? • People do move and they use it as their means of communication. • Since movement is part of human activities, it essential to dancing because dancing requires movements and we dance for the purpose of celebrating good harvest, worship, wedding, courtship war, and others.

TYPES OF MOVEMENTS 1.LOCOMOTOR MOVEMENTS- are the movements that travel through space from one position to another.

1.WALK- transfer of weight from one foot to another through continuous movements. 2.RUN- a movement like walk but in a feaster pace except the body leaves the ground in weight transfer.

3. LEAP- a transfer of weight from one foot to another by springing and landing on the ball of the foot and heel down while bending the knee to absorb the shock.

4. JUMP- a transfer of weight through springing both feet into the air and landing on both feet. 5. HOP- a transfer of weight by springing from one foot and landing on the same foot. 6. GALLOP- a movement forward, knee action and heel leading. 7. SLIDE- a weight transfer that glides foot on the floor. 8. SKIP- a transfer using, step, hop, alternately.

TYPES OF MOVEMENTS 1. NON-LOCOMOTOR MOVEMENTS OR AXIAL MOVEMENTS- are movements which does not require travel.

1.STRECH- the extension of the parts of the body using the joints in vertical or horizontal position. 2.BEND- is bringing two adjacent body parts together to meet at the center.

3.SWING- arching or circling around in a stationary base. 4. TWIST- rotating parts of the body an axis.

WHAT ARE BASIC SKILLS NEEDED IN DANCING? • Basic or fundamental formations, positions and skills are required in every activity that we do. • It is the first thing that one should know before engaging in more complicated activities. • Since basic information and skills are necessary, we are going to look to the basics in terms of dancing.
