You, Lord, are both Lamb and Shepherd. You, Lord, are both prince and slave. You, peacemaker and sword-bringer of the way you took and gave. You, the everlasting instant; You, whom we both scorn and crave. Clothed in light upon the mountain, stripped of might upon the cross, Shining in eternal glory, beggar’d by a soldier’s toss, You, the everlasting instant; You, who are both gift and cost. You, who walk each day beside us, sit in power at God’s side. You, who preach a way that’s narrow, have a love that reaches wide. You, the everlasting instant; You, who are our pilgrim guide. Worthy is our earthly Jesus! Worthy is our cosmic Christ! Worthy your defeat and victory. Worthy still your peace and strife. You, the everlasting instant; You, who are our death and life. Alleluia! - Sylvia Dunstan

WELCOME AND GREETING Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! O what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.
No guilt in life, no fear in death— This is the pow'r of Christ in me; From life's first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny. No pow'r of hell, no scheme of man, Can ever pluck me from His hand; Till He returns or calls me home— Here in the pow'r of Christ I'll stand.
This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior, all the day long; This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior, all the day long.

“In Christ Alone”
In Christ alone my hope is found; He is my light, my strength, my song; This cornerstone, this solid ground, Firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, When fears are stilled, when strivings cease! My comforter, my all in all— Here in the love of Christ I stand. In Christ alone, Who took on flesh, Fullness of God in helpless babe! This gift of love and righteousness, Scorned by the ones He came to save. Till on that cross as Jesus died, The wrath of God was satisfied; For ev'ry sin on Him was laid— Here in the death of Christ I live. There in the ground His body lay, Light of the world by darkness slain; Then bursting forth in glorious day, Up from the grave He rose again! And as He stands in victory,

TO OUR COMMUNITY. . . Pentecost happens fifty days after Easter. This coincides with the Feast of the First Fruits in the Old Testament (Lev. 23:15-22; Num. 28:26-31). The celebration did not begin until loaves were offered of the grain that had just been harvested and were presented as an offering before the LORD of the harvest. Then the celebration would continue in thanksgiving for all the first fruits that had been harvested. As the “only begotten of the Father”, Jesus Christ is our first fruit offering. He said himself “I am the bread of life”. In our celebration of Pentecost I believe we need to remember concerning the harvest, that Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the LORD of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Luke 10:2). I believe the harvest that Jesus was speaking of is still plentiful and I also believe the workers are still few. The Greek word used for “ask” in this verse is deomai and can be translated “pray”. Jesus spoke it as a command and the tense means NOW. It is not a word that means prayer in general but prayer for a specific need (workers into the harvest). I have mentioned that I believe the weeks before Pentecost should be spent in prayer. I also believe that we need to begin to pray NOW for workers to go into the harvest. May we be able to celebrate our “fruitfulness” at Pentecost because of our “faithfulness” to prayer. Praying for you,
John
