Hymn #159

MORNING PRAYER Everlasting Father, each dawn proclaims resurrection. Every sunrise tells of a new beginning and all creation sings for joy. From the start of time, Divine Creator, you painted each day with light, fashioned beauty from mountain heights to valley lows, and caused praise to whistle through trees and splash on seashores. When we took to hurrying through beauty, bruising each other, and taking blessings for granted, You sent Jesus to open our eyes to the New Dawn and stir our dreams to a new beginning. Easter is our second chance, our try once more. Holy and loving are You, O God, for each dawn is a resurrection gift, a possibility to deepen relationships, forgive ourselves and those near to us, make peace, and share love. Every sunrise rolls back the stone of doubt and lets the alleluia loose. Wondrous and great are You, O God. In your name, we pray. Amen. Crown Him With Many Crowns Children’s Feature

Hymn #161 Jean Wheatley

PRAYER TIME The Power of the Cross MESSAGE

As we go out . . . This the pow’r of the cross; Christ became sin for us; Took the blame, bore the wrath, we stand forgiven at the cross.

WORSHIP NOTES. . . We have gathered to celebrate our Risen Lord! Enough in itself to make our spirits sing, you are asked this morning to sing as you’ve never sung before and listen with hearts laid bare to the Holy Spirit. As the Ministry Choir and the Praise Singers sing Beethoven’s “Hallelujah”, you will be inspired to sing and listen in spirit and in truth. Sing, congregation, sing! TO OUR COMMUNITY. . . Easter Sunday is certainly one of the most exciting Sundays to worship! Did you know on the church calendar there are seven Sundays of Easter? I was not aware of that until I became aware that there is a church calendar. The church calendar that I am writing about is not the one that our secretary, Sheri, does an excellent job of keeping up with. I am writing about the church calendar that gives us the seasons of worship for the church. On this calendar there is an Easter Season that continues after Easter Resurrection Sunday until Pentecost. Pentecost is the celebration of the birth of the church with the coming of the Holy Spirit. Never fear, I have plenty I want to write to you about Pentecost and the Holy Spirit. For now, just know there is a time between the first Sunday of Easter and the Seventh Sunday of Easter that I believe is very important in the life of the Body of Christ. From scriptures, we know how the disciples spent this time. Acts 1:14 tells us, “They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.” As we continue in our Easter Season and in preparation for Pentecost, let us be joined together constantly in prayer. I just happen to be aware of some ways we can accomplish this task. On May 4, 2009, there will be a prayer meeting at FBCVM for the “Just Give Me Jesus” rally that will be held in September. That same week, Thursday the 7th will be the National Day of Prayer. The sanctuary will be open to the community from 7am – 7pm for prayer. One of the most significant spiritual times for FBCVM is the around the clock prayer vigil that happens the week before Pentecost. We will be praying

around the clock, beginning May 24th at 11am and pray through until May 31st at 11am. After the week of prayer we will worship and celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost Sunday. Please join in the Easter Season and make it a Season of Prayer. Praying for you, John

Living With Urgency North American Missions Named for the first Leader of the Woman’s Missionary Union, the Annie Armstrong Offering and Week of Prayer encourages us to live with urgency. Why? In 1991 there were 39,000,000 (million) persons in America who were Unchurched. (That means they were bound for hell!) In 2004, that number had grown to 75 million, an increase of 92 percent. Barna Research in 2007 indicates that more than half of the unchurched adults in America believe that if a person is generally good, or does enough good things for others during their life, they will earn a place in heaven. Over 5,000 persons receive support from the North American Mission Board so they may share the Gospel, assist the needs of people, and enlarge the Kingdom of our Lord. We are called to accept the responsibility of providing them with resources and prayers. In 2008, the Churches affiliated with the Bosque Baptist Association provided $11,169.90 in gifts to the Annie Armstrong Offering for North American Missions. What do you believe the Lord would have you and your Church Family give in 2009 to present the Gospel to the unchurched in America? Our giving goal this year is $1,500.00. Let us urgently share the gospel through NAMB. Our in-gathering day will be Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009.
