Right to Education The 1987 Philippine Constitution speaks elaborately of the right to education. It vows to “…protect and promote the right of all citizens to quality education at all levels, and take appropriate steps to make such education accessible to all…” 4

Section 1. The State shall protect and promote the right of all citizens to quality education at all levels, and shall take appropriate steps to make such education accessible to all.

Section 5. The State shall take into account regional and sectoral needs and conditions and shall encourage local planning in the development of educational policies and programs.

“How can the Church or the Government Help

In Protecting These Rights?”

How can the Church or the RIGHT TO EDUCATION Government The Church by its nature is both a teaching institution as help? well as a preaching one. An example of the church supporting and protecting our right to education is Colegio San Agustin itself.

CSA is a Catholic school which provides a learning environment and promotes spiritual growth for students. As for the government, it protects our right to education by passing laws which support it, and the creation of departments to focus on it such as DepEd.

How can the Church or the RIGHT TO CONSCIENCE Government The government guarantees our freedom to help? practice and promotion of faith by not penalizing one’s participation in religious communities.

The Church, being the religious aspect, protects this right by giving the citizens their freedom to worship within a community guided by faith.
