Comte’s Logical Positivism is Absurd By Anthony J. Fejfar, B.A., J.D., Esq., Coif © Copyright 2009 by Anthony J. Fejfar Auguste Comte lived from 198-1857, and his book, “A General View of Positivism” was apparently first published in 1875 in French. Comte, in his introduction, in the book, states that reason, metaphysics, and theology, must be put aside in favor of feminine affectivity. Comte’s position is of course some absurd, misplaced romanticism of the 19th Century which is totally irrational. Society is based upon reason, which is a composite of logic, love, and intuition. Nature and Natural Law are based upon Metaphysics. Additionally, theological ethics and wisdom tells us much more about human nature and what it takes to live a good life and have a good society than positivist science can ever tell us. Comte must go, it is absurd. Those who teach Logical Positivism are obviously schizophrenic and cannot think logically and causally.
