TROOP 115 COMMITTEE MEETING NOTES September 16, 2009 To Dos highlighted in Green Important Dates highlighted in Red Open committee positions in purple Present: Carrie, Mike, Brett, Kathy, Rick, Brad, Pam, Nancy Welcome our newest members: Carrie Chauvette and Brad Ochs SCOUTMASTER’S REPORT-Rick Tent update: Order 5 at $55 each get 1 free Volunteers: Looking for people to volunteer for outings with 1 boy to help plan meals. Sand Lakes: Wet and cool. 12 scouts and 6 adults attended. We started at Sand Lakes and the rain never stopped. Saturday evening a decision was made to move outing to Neil Henige’s house. We took the boys bowling. It turned out to be a fun week-end. Green Lake Survival week-end: This week-end (Sept 26-28). Also youth hunt week-end. Rick will be taking his boat. Looking for additional boats to take the boys fishing then we are planning to have a fish dinner. We will be taking limited supplies only flint and steel for starting fires/tarps/raingear. The final details will be determined at the Sept 21 meeting. Summer Camp: Summer 2010 this year will be the first week of camp June 27 July 3 PREVIOUS MONTHS MINUTES READ-Nancy OUTDOOR ACTIVITY REPORT-Bob Sand Lakes-a permit was obtained for 11 scouts and 4 adult leaders. Bob to secure a permit for the Green Lake Survival Training outing coming up September 26. Bob will be sending an email to the troop to remind them to sign up at the next meeting. Scouts and adult leaders, so we know how many to plan on. National Camping Award. As outdoor activities chair it is Bob’s job to promote the national camping award to encourage participation in outdoor activities. This is both an annual and a cumulative award that can be earned as a troop, patrol, or individual. By keeping track of which scouts and how many attend each overnight camping event, we may qualify for these awards which include ribbons for our troop flag and special recognition patches. Bob will try to reconstruct the last year and submit for the awards in January.
Blog. Bob is still hoping to get more Troop members signed up as followers on the blog so that they receive automatic emails of any new postings. SERVICE PROJECT COORDINATOR: Position open to anyone that is interested. ADVANCEMENT COORDINATOR-Alan (as reported by Carrie) 3 boys earned their bird study badges. TREASURER’S REPORT-Mike Total checking $5014.16 Scenic Trails Council Account $500 Any questions or interest contact Mike Leahy. FUNRAISING COORDINATOR-Catherine Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction: Do to the economic conditions, the various other fundraisers we have a decision was made to not do the spaghetti dinner this year. We will look at it again next year. I have the popcorn info. Sales start later this month. I will have all the forms to hand out to the boys at the 9/21/09 meeting. Would like to do small fundraiser for boys going to Jamboree or those interested, possibly candy bars. OLD BUSINESS-Brett Financial Aid: Brett offered to host a garage sale to raise money for scholarships next summer. NEW BUSINESS-Kathy Eagle Scout Court of Honor Book: A book was purchased that contains ideas for planning Court of Honor Ceremonies. The book will be passed among those interested. Eagle Scout kit: It was voted and unanimously approved that Troop 115 would purchase the Eagle Scout patch and mother and father pins and neckerchief for any boy earning their Eagle Scout.
