Coaching Philosophy
I believe that the purpose of athletics is to better a person on a series of levels. Athletics can affect people in ways that are unmatched by anything else. It teaches athletes necessary skills like communication, respect, and resiliency for a lifetime. I also value athletics because it breeds competition and competition is how people better themselves. Athletics molds people into who they are years after they stop participating. I personally want to coach so that I can help people to develop their skills and a love for athletics in the best way possible. My hope for my athletes is that they will take something positive away that can help them later.
I plan to make connections with my athletes by being involved with their development and holding them to a certain standard as people and students. My athletes will be expected to work hard and be dedicated to the team. A well-rounded person can become a well-rounded athlete. As for staff members, they will be asked to put in the same amount of work just like myself and the athletes. In return they will be recognized for their efforts and be listened to at every step of the way. Input from others is a valuable part of a team. As for the community, or the parents, they will be told from the beginning the expectations of the program. I will not be playing people on the basis of who they are related to. This makes for a poor team dynamic that is not rewarded for the right things. Our opponents and officials are to be respected to the highest extent. Any amount of disrespect will not be tolerated. Our opponents are in the same situation we are. We will always stay composed and make the right decisions. As for officials it is okay to
dislike a call or even be mad about it but, the call is final and that is how we must move forward. Our team will always be looking forward so we can extend our skills.
My philosophy is based on the work from many different groups to ensure the success of the program. If everyone does their part, we will be successful and if not, changes will have to be made so that we can progress as a group.
