CNG BIKE

INTRODUCTION ➢CNG is the abbreviation for Compressed Natural Gas, which is natural gas that has been compressed in such a way that it is lighter than air. ➢CNG is a fossil fuel that comprises of hydrocarbon gases and vapor, and contains mostly methane.

➢ CNG is made by compressing the bio gas to less than 1% of its volume .

CONTD.

➢ It occupies standard atmospheric pressure. ➢ It is stored and distributed in hard containers usually in cylindrical and spherical shapes at a pressure of 20-25 MPa.

➢The CNG Cylinder, which stores the compressed natural gas, is one of the safest factors of using CNG as an alternative fuel.

➢ A High pressure copper tubes connect the following: 1. Filling Valve – Pressure regulator 2. Pressure regulator - Pressure reducer 3. Pressure reducer - Engine intake manifold ➢

To avoid entanglement between other parts the diameter of the tube is considerably 0.7 cm to be used.

➢A pressure regulator is a valve that automatically cuts off the flow of a liquid or gas at a certain pressure. Regulators are used to allow high-pressure fluid supply lines or tanks to be reduced to safe and/or usable pressures for various applications. ➢It has an inlet port, an outlet port and a flow path. The valve is also used to regulate the flow of the gas.

➢ The CNG reducer model is an electronic CNG pressure reducer with 3 pressure reduction stages, for traditional systems. ➢ In the first stage the pressure is reduced from 200bar to 3.8-4.8bar. ➢ In the second stage the pressure is reduced to 0.8-1.5bar. ➢ In the third stage the pressure is stabilized and is sent to the engine intake manifold.

➢ This is a Mechanical device which functions on the principal of venture. This ensure Airfuel mixing in the correct proportions. ➢ It is a simple system unit which is fixed onto the carburetor with a rubber sleeve. ➢ It is made out of Aluminum.

➢ CNG Pressure Gauge is an equipment that gives information about Pressure in the cylinder and hence amount of gas available in the cylinder.

➢ Natural gas has an octane rating of approximately 130. This higher octane allows for increased engine compression and combustion efficiency.

➢ According to the Environmental Protection Agency, NGVs(Natural gas vehicles Advocates) pave the potential to emit 25 percent less greenhouse gases than diesel-powered vehicles. Best of all , natural gas is cheaper -- $1.50 to $2 less per gasoline gallon equivalent, according to NGV America.

➢ Low in pollutants, high calorific value and heat yield, economical. ➢ It requires less lubrication. ➢ Low maintenance costs than other vehicles. ➢ It is less likely to ignite on hot surface because its auto ignition temperature (540 degrees) and small range of flammability (5%-15%). ➢ Environmentally Friendly.

➢ CNG vehicle needs more space for fuel storage.

➢ It is a non-renewable resource. ➢ Installation cost is quite high. ➢ Availability is not as widespread as regular gas stations. ➢ The engine life gets declined with the time of using CNG.
