FEATURED PERFORMERS

Paul Baloche / www.leadworship.com

Lincoln Brewster / www.lincolnbrewster.com

Dove Award-winning songwriter Paul Baloche has written hundreds of worship songs that have been featured on countless albums. Songs such as “Open the Eyes of My Heart”, “Above All”, “Hosanna”, and “Your Name” have quickly become church favorites. Paul frequently travels the world teaching and leading others in worship. In addition to being a songwriter, Paul has developed a series of teaching DVD’s designed to help worship teams increase their skill and confidence in leading others in worship.

A love and natural gift for the guitar landed Brewster a gig with mainstream rocker Steve Perry (Journey) and led to offers from mainstream rock labels all before he was 21. But Brewster had made a commitment to Christ in his late teens, and instead took a position at his local church as a sound technician. Lincoln signed with Integrity Music Group in Mobile, AL, finding a label home that allowed him to record the modern, rock-tinged worship for which he has become known. In addition to his role as worship leader each Sunday in his home church, Brewster is also serving as a worship music instructor at various worship conferences throughout the country.

Brenton Brown / www.brentonbrown.com

A gifted songwriter and musician, Brenton has written many worship songs, including “Everlasting God,” “Lord, Reign in Me,” “All Who Are Thirsty,” and “Hallelujah (Your Love is Amazing).” Everlasting God was released with Survivor and with Sparrow in the States. In 2005 the Browns reluctantly left London and their home church of Holy Trinity Brompton for California. Since then they have been welcomed into the Horizon family of churches and have travelled across the States and beyond leading worship in churches as far afield as Sweden and Korea. 2008 saw the arrival of a baby daughter called Bella, and Brenton’s second solo project, ‘Because of Your Love.’ Brenton has been lucky enough to have his songs recorded by Chris Tomlin and Lincoln Brewster. He has 5 songs in CCLI’s top 100.

Abraham Laboriel

Abraham Laboriel is a world renowned bassist and the founder of the band KOINONIA. He was born and raised in Mexico City where he received his earliest musical training from his father, a gifted guitarist and composer. He has performed and recorded with many jazz artists including George Benson, Larry Carlton, Ella Fitzgerald, Dave Grusin, Herbie Hancock, Al Jarreau, Manhattan Transfer, Joe Pass, Joe Sample, Diane Schuur, and Sara Vaughan. He was in fact voted by his peers in the LA Chapter of NARAS as the “Most Valuable Player” in the Bass chair for the three years in a row, joining Ray Brown and Chuck Domanico in that honor.

NEWWORLDSON / www.newworldson.com

Gregg Bissonette / www.greggbissonette.com

Armed with inspirational lyrics and world class musicianship, NEWWORLDSON rescues soul music from being a mere genre and returns the art form to its sacred roots. Singer Joel Parisien says “if you trace back the roots of ‘roots’ music, of ‘soul’ music, of ‘folk’ music, it’s about folks; it’s social music. We hope our fans become our family. We hope they leave our shows feeling inspired. Our ministry is about uplifting people.” With the force of an orchestra, Josh Toal (guitar, vocals), Rich Moore (bass, vocals), Mark Rogers (drums) and Parisien (vocals, keys) come together to form a revolutionary four-piece gospel combo.

Gregg is a sought after drummer from Los Angeles. He has played for a wide variety of folks, including The Maynard Ferguson Big Band, Ringo Starr, James Taylor, David Lee Roth, Joe Satriani, Toto, Brian Wilson, Electric Light Orchestra, Andy Summers, The Pat Boone Heavy Metal Big Band, Linda Ronstadt, Santana and many, many more!

Kirk Whalum / www.kirkwhalum.com

Kirk’s musical accomplishments have brought him professional and critical acclaim with a total of eight Grammy Nominations, his most recent (2008) for Roundtrip and two Stellar Awards (Best Gospel Instrumental Album). However, it’s his benevolent spirit and charitable efforts that truly define him. As someone who loves working with young musicians, Kirk is most proud of his 2006-2008 appointment as the first Artist-in-Residence of the STAX Music Academy in his hometown of Memphis. Impressive would, indeed, sum up Kirk’s career, but if you asked him, he would simply say, “ it’s grace.”

Doyle Dykes / www.doyledykes.com

Doyle’s early years as a guitarist took him around the world as he toured with The Stamps Quartet and later with Grand Ole Opry Star, Grandpa Jones. Doyle has since returned to the Grand Ole Opry for numerous performances, many appearing live on national television. As an endorser and clinician for Taylor Guitars, Doyle has designed a very successful signature guitar. The Doyle Dykes Signature Model Taylor guitar (“DDSM”) features an amplification system by L.R. Baggs, deemed as the Doyle Dykes Hexaphonic Pickup System. Doyle also helped design his signature Rivera amplifier, called the Sedona, designed to accommodate both electric and acoustic instruments. Doyle’s signature instruments and equipment have influenced the musical instrument industry on a global basis.

Tom Brooks / www.worshipalliance.com

Tom Brooks is best known as Senior Producer, Arranger, and Keyboardist on the award winning “HOSANNA! MUSIC” Praise & Worship Series from INTEGRITY MUSIC. Tom has produced over 100 Christian albums; several receiving Gold and Platinum Record status and “Dove Award” honors. Tom has produced many artists in Christian Music; including Ron Kenoly, Crystal Lewis, Don Moen, Graham Kendrick, Sandi Patti, Bob Fitts, Twila Paris, Kent Henry, and more. Tom’s productions are an integral part of the multi-platinum “SONGS 4 WORSHIP SERIES”; the largest selling Christian albums in history.

Joel Augé / www.joelauge.com

Integrity Music artist, Joel Augé, native of Hamilton, Ontario, whose passion for music has found him recording since 1999, fronting three distinctive bands. Joel has always felt at home smack in the middle of the sacred/secular road. For him, it’s the same road. “The balance between artist and worshiper is a heart thing,” Joel says. “If you’re a Christian and you’re making art, you are in some way sacrificing your art in worship. My art, the thing I create, even though it’s not 100% congregational all the time, I consider it an act of worship... It’s a daily struggle to put the ego aside, but ultimately, I’m nowhere near as important as the one I’m singing to.”

Laura Story / www.laurastorymusic.com

Like the twists and turns of a mountain road, Laura Story’s life has held its share of unexpected moments - some exhilarating, some terrifying, and some simply beautiful to behold. Leaning solely on her faith in the sovereignty of God, Story has learned that no matter what comes around the next bend, it’s going to be an incredible view. Once an aspiring symphony conductor, Story didn’t even know she could sing - much less write songs - until she was in her early twenties. Today, Story is not only a gifted vocalist and worship leader but also the composer of one of the most beloved worship songs of our generation - “Indescribable.” The song has helped people all over the world experience our magnificent God.

Relevant Worship www.relevantworshipmusic.com

Relevant’s vision is that the Spirit of God and revival would take over the church; that we would carry Jesus’ message of life, hope and forgiveness to a city that has been told for years that it is dead, hopeless and forgotten. We want to love the community through prayer and service – bless the church and unite the body of Christ in worship. It’s breaking every denominational line. Spurring one another on. Lifting up the name of Christ inside the church, as well as in the streets. Rallying the church to action. Loving one another and also loving the ‘unlovely.’

Here’s a short list of artists he’s working with: Ayeshia Woods, Amy Grant, Alex M (Laguna Beach), Nicole Mullen, Avalon, Britt Nicole, Rebecca St. James, The Katina’s, Rachel Farris, Jennifer Paige, Cherie Adams and many more.

His musical education was a versatile one, encompassing straight blues, country blues, folk, country, rock ‘n’ roll, as well as singer-songwriter material. Raitt was sharing stages with living blues legends, and McFarlane soaked up as much as he could from them before and after the gigs. McFarlane left Raitt to move to Muscle Shoals, Alabama, playing on records for Bobby Blue Bland, Little Milton, Etta James and Johnnie Taylor as part of the famed Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section.

Emedin Rivera / www.emedinrivera.com

Emedin started playing the bongos at the age of 8, and his exposure and passion for music came from his father and uncle who both played in a trio in Puerto Rico. He has developed his own system of playing drums and congas simutaneously, (sounding like three people), calling it “Percussion Kit.” Emedin is well known for his sound effects, many of which are hand made by him. They can be heard on some of the National Geographic shows. Emedin has performed live with Harry Belafante, Gregory Hines, Paquito De Rivera, Vicky Sue Robinson, Angela Bofill, Gloria Gaynor, Ben E King, Dave Samuels, Dave Valentine, Andy Narell, and Latoya Jackson just to name a few. We’ll touch on topics such as music preference, style, tradition, denomination, race, and culture. This forum could bring worship folks together, and begin the dialogue about how we can begin to come together as the “Church of Buffalo” in worship.

[email protected] “When I opened the case for the first time I was stunned by the craftsmanship of the McPherson. When I played it I was stunned by it’s tone, playability, and intonation. When I plugged it in I was stunned by how well it cut through the mix when playing with a band. Sound engineers and band members who have worked with me for years have all given unsolicited raves regarding the natural, punchy tone of my McPherson guitar. To my surprise, I’ve never been this impressed with a guitar before.”
