Biographies Walfrey Lim: Born in the Philippines and has been dancing since age five. Hip-hop is his forte but he also has experience in African, lyrical, Indian (Bhangra), and Latin. He is currently an active choreographer in Colgate University’s bi-annual Dancefest.

Dance Program

Laura Schmitt: Her experience began at the Dance Factory in jazz, tap, ballet, pointe, lyrical, hip-hop, acro, theater guild and production numbers. She has competed for 6 years and taught dance for 2 years. She received the Royale Academy of Performing Arts Scholarship to attend SUNY Brockport. She has participated in two seasons on the Brockport dance team and has been asked to join Sankofa, an African dance and drumming ensemble. Leah Schmitt: a senior at Sherburne-Earlville CS. Her experience began at the Dance Factory in ballet, pointe, lyrical, jazz, acro and hip-hop. She competed for six years winning the gold and high gold awards. She also was a student teacher in dance for 4 years. Rachel Wassel: A college senior at Colgate University, Rachel taught dance classes at her local studio for five years. She won two choreographic awards for her fusion pieces in high school. In college she has explored and directed musical theater. She has trained on Long Island and at the Alvin Ailey extension school in New York City. Paris Wilcox: He began his training with Donna Decker, Delia Foley and Leslie Norton. A graduate of Hamilton College in 1995, he finished his training at the Rock School of Pennsylvania Ballet followed by a contract with the Orlando Ballet. He continued on to become a principal with the Kansas City Ballet and performed pieces by choreographers such as Ailey, Balanchine and Taylor.

Dance Camps July 6th – 10th Jazz: 10:00AM – 12:00PM Center floor and across the floor technique, choreography for all levels. Hip-Hop: 12:30PM – 2:30PM Some center floor and across the floor work, choreography for all levels. African: 2:45PM – 4:00PM Learning choreography to the traditional dance called the Ijexa for all levels. Cost: $120.00 Instructor: Laura Schmitt

July 13th – 17th Hip-Hop Camp Hip-hop dance that will fuse with other types of dance, such as lyrical to explore a very expressive and softer side of hip-hop. This program is to encourage expression of feelings through movements of the body and to tell a story. Advanced Class: 10:00AM – 12:00PM For students with a strong background in hiphop or lyrical. Cost: $40.00 Beginners Class: 2:00PM – 4:00PM Anyone interested in learning hip-hop. Cost: $40.00 Instructor: Walfrey Lim

Dance Classes July 20th – 24th Beginner Tap: 9:00AM – 12:00PM All levels welcome for ages 2-10. Cost: $60.00 Modern: 12:30PM – 4:30PM Some experience recommended but not required for ages 13 and older. Cost: $80.00 Advanced Tap: 4:30PM – 5:30PM An upper level of tap for those with a stronger background. Cost: $40.00 *Cost for a combination of the beginner tap and modern: $120.00 Instructor: Rachel Wassel

July 27th – 31st Advanced Ballet Workshop For those students with a strong background in classical ballet. Technique: 9:00AM – 10:30AM Variations: 11:00AM – 12:00PM Cost: $90.00 Instructor: Paris Wilcox Combination Choreography Production 1:00PM – 3:00PM Will begin with a warm-up and move into choreography. One main dance will be learned and performed and there will also be time for creative dance improvisation. Cost: $40.00 Instructor: Leah Schmitt

Classes taught by Laura & Leah Schmitt unless otherwise noted. Cost: $25.00/month for 1 hr classes $15.00/month for ½ hr classes

Monday Creative Movement: 5:15PM – 5:45PM For children five and under to explore movement and dance in a creative environment.

Hip-Hop/Jazz Fusion: 6:00PM – 7:00PM A combination of hip-hop dance and jazz technique for children of ages 8-12.

Modern: 7:15PM – 8:15PM Modern dance technique for students with intermediate and advanced levels of experience.

Tuesday Wellness Dance: 5:00PM – 6:00PM For adults, dance to a healthier body and mind through aerobic movement and choreography

Hip-Hop: 7:00PM – 9:00PM

June 16th – July 7th Instructor: Walfrey Lim - Cost: $40.00

Wednesday Creative Ballet: 5:00PM – 6:00PM For children ages 6-9, explore the fundamentals of ballet in a creative environment.

Hip-Hop: 6:15PM – 7:15PM For teens and adults

Thursday (Begins June 18th) Zumba: 7:00PM – 8:00PM Mixes body sculpting movements with dance steps derived from Latin and International music. It targets areas such as the glutes, legs, arms, abdominals, and the heart. Instructor: Jennifer Mack - Cost: $7.00/class 10% discount for 2 classes or workshops 15% discount for 3 classes or workshops 20% discount for 4 classes or workshops
