Jesus said to his disciples: “I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing! There is a baptism with which I must be baptized, and how great is my anguish until it is accomplished! Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. From now on a household of five will be divided, three against two and two against three; a father will be divided against his son and a son against his father, a mother against her daughter and a daughter against her mother, a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and a daughterin-law against her mother-in-law."

Reflection-

The gospel today presents Jesus as a troublemaker. The fire of his message and love will divide people. Even in families, as the early community well knew. Maybe it was like the civil war in any country puts brothers against brothers, and family members against each other.

SOFIA-Lasallian community For the Lasallian community Lord, we pray that you bring forth your community, Out of brokenness and indifference, bring forth love and caring; Out of self-centeredness and isolation, bring forth friendship and compassion; Out of misunderstanding and mistrust, bring forth unity and togetherness; For the included and the excluded, the remembered and the forgotten, the loved and the despised, May we build together your living community, Bound together by love and joy to the world and to you, we pray to the lord Students: lord hear our prayer

Creator of all things, true source of light and wisdom, origin of all being, graciously let a ray of your light penetrate the darkness of our understanding. Take from us the double darkness in which we have been born, an obscurity of sin and ignorance. Give us a keen understanding, a retentive memory, and the ability to grasp things correctly and fundamentally.Grant us the talent of being exact in our explanations and the ability to express ourselves with thoroughness and charm. In Jesus name. AmenPoint out the beginning, direct the progress, and help in the completion. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
