Situation analysis is an analysis of factors in the context of a planned or present curriculum project that is made in order to assess their potential impact on the project. These factors may be political , social , economic , or institutional. Situation analysis complements the information gathered during needs analysis . It is sometimes considered as a dimension of needs analysis , and can also be regarded as an aspect of evaluation. I do agree with Clark ’s comments that a language curriculum is a function of the interrelationships between subject-specific concerns and other broader factors embracing socio-political and philosophical matters ,educational value system ,theory and practice in curriculum design, teacher experiential wisdom and learner motivation. In order to understand the foreign language curriculum in any particular context it is therefore necessary to attempt to understand how all the various influences interrelate to give a particular shape to the planning and execution of the teaching/learning process. And I do think that for foreigner or the L1 teacher who deal with the language curriculum design should have better known enough the history of the nation , who are they ? where are they from ? what are theirs’ life target ?what motivated them to be met you ? You should have known their background knowledge to design your in-dream language curriculum to suit their needs .
