Preventative Health Care
Preparing for a future in the medical field. How to be the best possible health care provider and how to advance. The different nutrients that our body needs in order to function. The fundamentals of a pharmaceutical setting. What measures need to go into preventative medicine.
I recently switched to Interdisciplinary Studies so as a new college student I was just taking the classes that were required for my major. When I finally found out that I can take all of the courses that interested me the most and still graduate with a degree to go into the field that I want, I was all for it. IDS has helped me personalize my last year of undergraduate studies and I can now take classes I need, and actually want to take. These courses have helped me become more interested in the area of study that I am learning, which makes learning the material a lot easier. Changing majors as an incoming senior left me unable to choose the classes that I would have wanted in the previous three years. I was simply taking the courses required for my previous major. If I had found out about IDS earlier, I would have taken more classes that relate to my future career goals. I want to become a sports physical therapist, so knowing about IDS as a freshman would have drastically changed my first three years of classes. I would have built my schedule to be more sports based with more classes focused on how the body functions and heals itself. These courses would have really helped me better prepare myself for a future in my desired field.
