Celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation by Bishop Jackels is next Sunday, February 22, 2009 (12:00 noon). ST. Altar Society St. Patrick’s Day Party After a several year hiatus, the Altar Society St. Patrick’s Day party is back! The party will be Sunday, March 8 at 4:00pm in the Activity Center. Come be Irish for a day and enjoy a corned beef and cabbage dinner, time with friends, and, of course, bingo! Cost is $1.00 to cover the bingo pot. The Light Weigh is a Catholic 12 week video series and bible study where you will learn a new approach to eating and to prayer. Learn to eat the foods you enjoy in moderation and attain peace with food. Give God a chance and rediscover the freedom from food. The Young Adult Beginning Experience (YABE) is a peer ministry retreat where participants will be in a safe environment to talk through the grief process and discover that they are not alone. REFLECTIONS ON LIFE There is a nationwide effort to pass laws requiring abortion providers to offer a woman the opportunity to view an ultrasound image of her unborn child. One physician states: “Allowing a patient to view her ultrasound examination implies respect for the dignity and autonomy of a patient, and her ability to participate wisely in her own plan of care.” (The Southern Cross, August, 2008)

Kansans For Life Oratory Contest Saturday March 7 at 10:00 a.m. SMC is hosting the regional KFL oratory contest in the high school commons on Saturday, March 7 at 10:00 a.m. The contest is open to any student grades 8-12, who will give an original speech on a pro-life topic. There are cash prizes for the top three contestants in both junior (grades 8-10) and senior (grades 11-12) divisions. Winners of the senior division will advance to the state contest.
