PARISH MISSION
“CULTIVATING THE SEEDS OF FAITH” An Adult Faith Formation Program
Lent is fast approaching. We are fortunate this year to again have our Parish Mission during Lent. Father Rick Walsh – a Paulist Priest from Toronto, will lead the Mission as we explore St. Paul. Please reserve the dates now. March 9th, 10th and the 11th.
During Lent the Faith Formation Office of the Diocese of Pembroke is hosting a series of sessions in the Renfrew Zone of the Diocese. These evenings will rotate through the zone and are being hosted for your faith development. We encourage your participation. They are held on Tuesday evenings from 7– 7–8 p.m. beginning beginning here at St. Francis Xavier Small Hall on February 24th. Please follow the bulletin for a full schedule of locations and topics.
Social Justice Committee: Central to our faith is a sense of justice for all. Our parish donates 2% of all our ordinary income to projects both local and in foreign lands which extend justice through their efforts. A small but vibrant parish committee assists in our out-reach. If you would be willing to share your ideas with our ideals please feel welcome to join us this Sunday, February 15 th for a brief meeting in the rectory meeting room after the 10:30 mass. ADULT LEARNING OPPORTUNITY: We have three people preparing to join us at the Table of Eucharist. I will be facilitating a series of evenings on each of the sacraments – their origins in scripture, our history in developing our faith through them and a better understanding of how we celebrate them today. These weekly sessions continue this Thursday at which time we will explore Eucharist. Everyone is most welcome to join us in the church at 7:00 p.m. for about an hour of exploration and discussion. Indeed, we encourage all who can to join in building a spirit of welcome to our people who are journeying with us.
INTERNET RISKS FOR YOUNG & OLD: Plan to attend this timely and informative evening by O.P.P. Robyn MacEachern. Tuesday, February 17 th at 6:30 p.m. at Ma-te-way Activity Centre. The Internet is everywhere these days and is used by young and old alike for playing, learning or business. The risk is to all of us, but especially the most vulnerable: our youth and our seniors. Sgt. MacEachern, a dynamic speaker, does a riveting presentation.
MINISTRY OPPORTUNITY The residents of our retirement homes and nursing homes appreciate being connected to our parish by receiving receiving the weekly bulletin. We usually have one or two people a week on rotation to distribute bulletins in one of these places. If you can offer an hour about once a month to assist in this ministry please call the parish office (432(432-5825).
