GENERAL DESCRIPTION ON THE FRIGATE TYPE 053H1 This Proposal is designed for a major overhaul with reference to the current technical conditions of type 053H1 frigate serving in the PLA Navy. The Proposal is mainly composed of the following contents: General Layout Plan of type 053H1 Frigate, Technical Proposal of Major overhaul of type 053H1 Frigate, Training program, List of Documentation, List of onboard spares, naval supplies and depot spares.

I. GENERAL INTRODUCTION 1．Type This is a missile & gun frigate fitted with flush-deck and powered by diesel engines. With transom stern, twin rudders and twin-screw, the frigate has a raked bow of bulbous form. 2. Missions This ship is designed for the missions of convoy, fishery protection, patrol & guard, supporting torpedo boats and missile boats for combat in coastal area. 3.

5. Speed Under normal displacement and with clean hull, the Frigate’s maximum speed in deep waters is 24 knots when the wind is not larger than class III and the sea state is smaller than class 2. With the power of the main engines is 2×8000 horse-power, the maximum cruising range is 4000 nautical miles (with the speed of 18 knots), and its endurance is 15 days and nights. The full complement is 155 crew.

6. Present conditions The frigate type 053H1 has entered service with PLA Navy for over two decades. Meanwhile, some equipment, particularly special equipment (weapons, sensors, etc.) 1

II. ANTICIPATED GOALS OF OVERHAUL The ship, after removal, inspection and major overhaul, shall be able to basically satisfy the following tactical and technological indexes, and basically meet requirements in relevant naval standards. However, a very small amount of equipment, especially special equipment (weapons, sensors, etc.) may not fully meet their technical specification attributable to insufficiency or unavailability of spares; the overall performance of the ship, however, will not be affected; if so happened, the Seller shall give detailed explanations. Rated speed of main engine is 430 rpm. Power of diesel engine generator: 400KW. Power of harbor generator set: 120KW. All other electrical and mechanical equipment operate normally. Various special equipment conform to requirement of overhaul criteria. The ship, after major overhaul, can be utilized for more than 10 years under effective maintenance.

III. ANTICIPATED DURATION OF MAJOR OVERHAUL 5

About eight months are required for the major overhaul.
