Report Card In the run up to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, an independent and non-party group of citizens, concerned about the serious risks being faced by our democracy and constitution, launched a campaign to ensure every Indian is registered, votes and makes an informed choice. As part of making an informed choice, we decided to assess the ruling party BJP’s 2014 election manifesto and compare the commitments they made with actual delivery. We have kept our assessment factual, based on the government’s own reports or credible public reporting. We are able to back up every single assessment with authentic sources, based on data available.

No party takes electoral manifestoes seriously, all of them over promise and under deliver. But the performance of the BJP has been disappointing and their claims highly exaggerated, mostly based on selective use of partial data.
