ANB 10, Why Jesus Came "And I beheld in the midst of the throne . . . stood a Lamb as it had been slain . . . and He came and took the book out of the right hand of Him that sat upon the throne. And when He had taken the book, the four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, . . . and they sung a new song, saying, 'Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for Thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood (redeeming us) out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation (meaning this redemption is available to all peoples); and hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.'" Revelation 5:6-10 Jesus came for a reason, and this is why Jesus came. God made man so that He would have someone to fellowship with. God made man in His own image, the Hebrew texts calls man "another speaking spirit." Only man and God have the ability to speak and have what is said come to pass. God made man this way so He could have one like Him and we could fellowship with God. So God made Adam. Adam was not just any man, he was a man birthed of God. God's words formed man, they were the seed for Adam, not the seed of a man. And God gave Adam full dominion on this earth. Adam was to be the god of this earth. But Adam sinned. Adam was not deceived, he knowingly ate the fruit he was commanded not to. When he did this he transferred all his authority to the devil. Hence, the devil is referred to as the god of this world (II Corinthians 4:4). When adam did this he separated himself from God. God told Adam if he ate the fruit he would die, God did not mean he would only die physically (which he did many years later), God meant he would die spiritually (which he did immediately). When adam sinned he was immediately removed from right standing with God. In a gesture that was both symbolic and mandatory, God therefore cast Adam out of the garden of eden. When adam sinned he removed himself from the pure, unadulterated right standing (righteousness) with God which he needed to have direct fellowship with God. And this removal was not only for adam, but for all of adam's seed. Anything that comes from adam is also tainted with his sin, therefore we are all tainted with adam's sin, this original sin.

God saw this, and He knew He could no longer have direct fellowship with man because of this sin. God also knew that man had given his authority on this world to the devil. God had to devise a way to get these things back for man. So God took Abraham. He showed Himself to Abraham, established some elements of the law, and Abraham's willingness to obey God brought him back to some level of right standing with God. But the taint of sin was still on Abraham's life. But God had an even bigger plan, this was just the beginning. Remember when Abraham took his son Isaac to sacrifice him but the Lord's angel stopped him. Well just before that Abraham said "The Lord will provide the Lamb." Genesis 22:8. Before this God calls Abraham a prophet (Genesis 20:7). Abraham knew that God would one day provide the sacrificial lamb, God was just testing Abraham to see if he was willing to do for God what God would eventually do for him. So years past, and eventually the Jewish law (book of Deuteronomy) was established. But no man was perfect. Every man was still tainted by original sin. God could still not have that perfect relationship with man that he wanted. God knew he had to send another Adam. So the Lord sent His son, Jesus. Just like Adam Jesus is birthed of the seed of God's Word, not the seed of man. (Remember Mary says 'be it unto me according to thy Word." (Luke 1:38). In fact, Jesus is called 'the Last Adam.' (I Corinthians 15:45). Jesus came without the taint of original sin, Jesus came here perfect. But Jesus was a man just as you and me. I do not believe Jesus was born knowing He was God. Jesus had to learn it for Himself, being taught by the scriptures (knowing his mother had given birth as a virgin and reading Isaiah 7:14) and obviously, never sinning, having a relationship with God no man had known since adam pre-eating the apple. So Jesus lived perfectly, but He was rejected by most of the people of this world. So even as a perfect man, He was killed. Now pay close attention. If Jesus was perfect, how did He enter hell? If sin is what sends a person to hell, how could Jesus have entered it so he could defeat the devil (Colossians 2:15)? In a sense, Jesus was disguised. What Jesus did, being perfect, and therefore being righteous (with perfect right standing before God) was exchange our sin for His righteousness. (He was made a curse by being on the tree, Galatians 3:13.), By taking our sin from us He was able to enter hell and defeat the devil.

But not only did He take our sin, He gave us access to His righteousness (right standing). Because Jesus was perfect (as no man born of adam, like us, could be) He had perfect right standing with God. Because Jesus gave us access to this right standing, we also can have perfect right standing before God. But to get this relationship with God, we must come through Jesus. We must be born of Jesus, we must be 'born again.' But without Jesus, you are just another sinful person, eternally separated from God. Jesus tells us that no man can come to the Father (God) except through Him. (John 14:6). But if you do come through Jesus, you have access to all that Jesus had access to. "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." (John 14:12) "At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I don't say to you that I will pray to the Father for you: [but] the Father himself loveth you, [and shall answer your prayers even if they come only from you] because you have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God." (John 16:26,27). Jesus won't have to pray on our behalf, for it would be unnecessary. We have the same righteousness that Jesus has. God looks at us as He would at Jesus. All we have to do is ask in Jesus name. (See Amplified text of John 16:26,27 in this area). Jesus doesn't tell us to ask in His Name because He wants us to name drop. We ask in His name because He is the one who gives us access to the throne, gives us right standing to come before God. My faith in Jesus is essentially my identity badge to come right before God. Moreover, it's not my righteousness that allows me to come, it's Jesus' righteousness. So in reality, I go before God wearing Jesus identity badge. I am of Jesus, therefore I have the righteousness of Jesus because He gave it to me, therefore I have right standing before God. So what does that make me? Read the opening verse again. As we saw in our opening, I am a king and a priest before my God. Jesus is the King of kings, and those who believe on Him are the kings that He is the King of. What is a priest? One that believes in the Lord and has rightstanding to serve before Him. We have that now. Jesus redeemed us to God. We are now, if we believe in Jesus, in the same position Adam was before he

sinned. We have perfect right standing and righteousness before God. What did Adam do before he fell, he reigned on this earth. And so do we who believe on Jesus today. John 1:12 - But as many as received Him (Jesus), to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ. Romans 8:14-17. Heirs to what? All that is the Father's. The earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof. (I Corinthians 10:26). So a summary, 1st, because of Jesus' perfection and what He did, if we believe in Him we are made perfectly righteous in the eyes of God as He was. 2nd, Because of this righteousness we have a right relationship with God. 3rd, because we have a right relationship with God we are kings and priests unto Him. 4th, because we are kings and priests before God, we can and should reign on this earth. Think of all that Jesus has given you. He gave you His life. Why did He do that? So that He could give you back your right standing with God. Why did He give you that? So you could enter heaven when you die. But not only that, so that you can rule and reign on this earth as a son of God. How important is Jesus. "I (Jesus) am the vine, you are the branches: he that abideth in Me, and I in him, he will bring forth much fruit: [but] without Me you can do nothing. John 15:5 Pray to God that you believe in Jesus, tell God you believe He sent His perfect Son Jesus, who was both man and God, to die for your sins. That you believe Jesus was then raised from the dead so that you too could die to sin and be raised again to righteousness to have a right relationship with God. If you do that, and you truly believe it, we will spend eternity together in Heaven. I'll be there, will you? (Read Romans 10:9-13 too). Do this. Then repent of your sins. Get a Bible and read it. Pray and go to church. Learn of all God has for you. Learn how to walk in God’s awesome ways. Jesus came to bring you life, and life more abundantly. (John 10:10) Begin your new life today with the Lord Jesus Christ. May God bless you, I love you all.
